Is Amazing Race scripted?

hello there to U...i really love this show too...i've been watching this show ever since its first preview on t.v....and from that time until it's last season, i've been an avid viewer of Amazing Race...i just like it because the places are so beautiful and like you said, it feels like i am traveling around the world too...i really appreciate every season of this show...this game is so fair because the players should be the ones who should work out and travel fast in order for them to win...and there's no voting rules on it which is really good and fair enough...it's good to have this kind of reality series on t.v....keep on watching Amazing Race because watching it is worth it and it's for the whole family...may GOD BLESS U & UR family always!!!

No way. This is an Emmy award winning reality television show, there is now way it could be scripted. I think it would be hard to script THAT. Actually, there was a television show that WAS scripted but made to look like a reality show (I can't remember the title. It had something to do with driving, racing, whatever). It was cancelled after a couple of episodes aired. The trick with the reality shows is the casting. They want to make their shows interesting so people will watch. In order to do that they have to get unusual or lively individuals who they believe will leave viewers laughing, crying, talking. Can you imagine an episode of a show like Deal or No Deal with a shy, boring, deadpan person as a contestant. It would be like watching golf. LOL! It's all in the casting. They do great background searches on contestants (they have to if they are going to be travelling around the world) and learn about their relationships. The shakier ground they are on the better they will show on tv.

Yup same with previous responses, I don't think it is scripted at all. Aside from getting a good cast of different characters and personalities, I believe it's all about editing. The editors of Amazing Race are really good at choosing which clips to show. Of course they've got like months to prepare for that and of course lots of material to work on too since the cameraman followed the teams always and the editors would just pick what's controversial or good about the team. IT's all about editing in the end. =)

hi... for me, the answer is no. i just believe that it is just pieced up with an "amazing" talent that all parts of the program goes together seamlessly.. a big hand of applause to the editors... happy mylotting

There is no way this is scripted. Don't take "Creative editing" as scripted. By saying that you have to realize that they are cramming 48-72 hours of filming into 45 minutes.
