What's the science behind jokes, why do we laugh with jokes?

I just wonder why we laugh with jokes? How come some things are funny to us? I have never seen animals laugh, so I wonder were humor comes from. Any ideas?

how do you KNOW you haven't seen animals experiencing humor? just watch cubs or puppies play, you can hear a few sounds every now and again. We need humor in our daily lives otherwise we would be so overwhelmed with the sadness.

That's what I was trying to explain! :) Even animals laff at each other and us, too! :) Black bears have learned that we will drop our food packs and run off, if they pretend to be ferocious... which they are not, in the main, that is... They must have one heck of a time laffing at how foolish we are, and then eating our lunch or dinner with gusto! LOL! :)

Well there is in my opinion a difference in animals having fun and humor. I believe it has to do with language, why certain remarks, texts or phrases make us laugh? As far as I know there are no animals capable of expressing themselves through languages as humans do.

We're just having a little humor at your expense. But I do wonder at times if animals are happy or sad
