Before my depression took a turn for the worst a few yrs back I use to take St.Johns Wort every day and it seemed to help for me...but thats when I was in a mild depressive state rather than the more intense/serious state....You COULD just ask at the Health Store though, they shoudl be able to give you various suggestions...

Well for depression, medicines are not solution. Do Meditation, try breathing exercise, it will help you balance and handle depression.

Alot of people take st johns wart. I loved it but it made my blood pressure go up. other things that help with depression are exercise I ride a bike and running, tennis is awesome. Sitting infront of the computer can make your depression worse. A person with depression has to stay active because we are missing chemicals in our brain so the only way to make us feel better is meds and activities the more active you are the more chemicals are released. You also should stay out of dark areas, cluttered areas or unkept areas that can also cause major depression. Ive had it since I was 5 and ive noticed certain situations can cause it to get worse.Well I hope you find something. good luck.

Hello Summer!
I have Fibromyalgia and every body thinks we are on depress then...
- suggestions of natural products: Kava kava, 5-HTP called tryptophan it's an amino acid very helping giving serotonin in our brain. Omega-3 with lecithin are not bad too. If you don't want 20 different bottles on your tablet then try a superfood drink like Original LIMU, made from brown seaweeds and very effective for many health conditions because it contains an ingredient named Fucoidan, a saccharide or sugar with many Benefits!
You can read about Fucoidan on the National Library of Medicine www.PubMed.org and get this drink from a site like
www.dania.originallimu.com
Good Luck! Be patient Take time and Keep Hoping!
Truly, a friend not depress anymore, Dania

There are various herbs (kava kava is one I know of) as well as St John's Wart you can try but true clinical depression won't go away from OTC things.
Here is a link to some of the things that supposedly will help lift moods:

Good luck!

St. John's Wort is the only herbal remedy that was mentioned in graduate level psychology courses as an option in treating depression. Many people find that it helps their depression a great deal. It does interact with some prescription medications, so make sure your doctor and pharmacist know what you are taking, both prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal. For example, if you were already taking St. John's and then started taking Prozac, you could experience serotonin syndrome (also called serotonin poisoning). Many people forget to mention herbal supplements when talking to their doctor or pharmacist.
