Ron Paul Running as a Republican

Considering the fact that Texas Congressman Ron Paul is actually a Libertarian running as a Republican, will this hurt his chances in the bid for President. In light of the fact that both Parties do not like him and the media seems to be ignoring him, I find the prospect of a Ron Paul Presidency very attractive.
