Ahmadinejad is probably one of the best things to happen to the State Department. After the incompetent draft doddgers decided to remove Saddam, the world became a poorer place when we didn't have a villain we could blame all our problems on. Then along came this guy who started saying all the things that good Holywood Villains are supposed to say.
If you look at it closely, Ahmadinejad is at best a populist who says all the things that push the right buttons on the poorer streets of many Islamic States. He appears heroic in his standing-up for Palestinian rights and Iran's right to nucealr technology. The fact that he seems to want to use this for hurting Israel-long cast as a regional thorn - makes him all the more popular with the masses.
In truth, he's alot less threatening to world peace than the State Department would like to make him out to be. For one thing - the democratically elected president in Iran has as much power as the Queen of England or the US Vice-President. Real power lies in the Supreem Leader - an unelected Islamic Cleric. So, far, it seems that the clerics are alot more rational than Ahmadinejad and have a more "Realistic" view of international relations than he appears to have.
Secondly, Iran does not have the capabilities to build a bomb and won't have for sometime. By comparison - Israel, which remains stategically ambiguous on its nuclear capabilities - has the ability to defend itself against any IRanian attacks.
Lets put it this way - Ahmadinejad has talked big but not proven anything. Kim il Jong by contrast has openly tested a nuclear weapon and made clear his intention to use them in event of an American attack - and guess what - USA is negotiating with him........So lesson in lift - don't talk big -just show your weapons and your intention to use them.
