I often notice this phrase in most public elementary schools that I pass by. What does this really mean? I disagree however, that some of these schools do not conform to my definition of a child-friendly school. For me a child-friendly school is not one where everyone is friendly and amiable to one another, but rather, one that has a safe environment where children, teachers and parents don't have to worry about their children or students safety. For example, playgrounds should be free of hazardous materials such as sharp objects like sticks, sharp pebbles, and broken glasses because children really like to run around. Also a child-friendly school should have age appropriate materials, a conducive learning classrooms and environment and visual aids that can trigger and influence their interests in subject matters. What is your own concept of a child-friendly school?
