an episode from a so-called award winning show had recently gave racist remarks to filipino doctors. The character of teri hatcher, in one of the episodes said that he wants to check the diploma of the doctor so that she can be assured that he isn't from a med school in the Philippines. This is a huge accussation... From my point of view, Teri Hatcher including the producers and writers of the show should apologize not only to the Filipino doctors in america but for all the filipinos around the world. Now, What's your say in this issue?

I agree. That kind of statement should never have been made...especially on television. I really like that show...and was actually surprised that this happened...I hope it gets resolved...

May I ask if you are a Filipino? We are just figuring out if other nations think the way we think... And oh, thanks for the response,

Yes, I'm a Filipino and I feel bad with that remark considering it is from a very popular, award-winning show which gets a huge following here in the Philippines. I am a long time fan of Teri Hatcher, since the McGyver days, and I am saddened that she didn't have enough courage to refuse delivering that line knowing its negative connotation on Filipino doctors. Either she has no common sense or she just didn't care. But I think everyone in the show is involved and must be castigated. Although the remark might be meant to be a joke, it is nevertheless an insult, for the ones who are thinking. I wish they were thinking, too. So, yes, everyone in the show should apologize not just Teri or the scriptwriter to serve as a reminder to all that incidents like this should not be considered normal and that actors and everyone involved in tv or movie productions have A responsibility to their audience that encompasses more than just entertainment.

Certainly, the weight of the issue is too much. And this will not end until all of them apologizes to the entire FILIPINO nation all over the world...

I think they should make a public apology -- the actors, writers/staff, and the producers of Desperate Housewives. Aside from that, their show should be boycotted in the Philippines for a period of time so that they will realize the impact of their mistake. Anyway, we Filipinos, shouldn't let this event lower our spirit/morale instead it must challenge us to further improve on our skills so we can show the world that we are passionate and we do our best when it comes to our profession. I also think that this must serve as a lesson to those people who engage in fraud -- those who make fake diplomas and certificates. I think the government should run after this people because they are putting a bad image to our country.

You are right. The fake diplomas really is a big reason why this happened. And this should be stopped. This is also brought about by the nursing leakage exam. It affected all the professions in the philippines. I am a recent Electrical engineering board passer. And men, you wouldnt imagine how hard it was. Thanks to the nurses of the leakage exam...
