You can use an online discount broker like Scottrade. Then get the stock market news from investors.com Ask people with experience. They can share some stories. Here is mine. It took me 2 years of losses to figure out a strategy I was comfortable with. Then it was easy. Always follow the overall market trend of the S&P, Dow 30, and NASDAQ. Why? Because 3 out of 4 stocks follow the trend. Investing in stocks is about increasing your returns without increasing your risk too much. Always diversify your investments too.

Whatever you decide to do, it is important to pick a good strategy and stick with it. It is okay for the first year to try different strategies to discover what you are comfortable with. Just remember that the greatest investors of all time still had losing picks. Nobody is perfect all the time.
