My almost 8 year old son was diagnosed ADHD last month. He has been taking 18 mg of Concerta every morning. He has been doing much better, but is still quite antsy some days at school. NOTHING like he was before though. This is a follow up appointment to see if the Concerta helps or if he needs a higher dosage. I am not really sure if he needs a higher dose or not. He is not as bad as he used to be, but could behave so much better.
Anyone out there have a child that is on Concerta or had been on Concerta? Have they been on any other ADHD meds? Which did you think worked best?

My boy was diagnosed last year with ADHD. But has had problems for at least 2 years prior to that. He has been on several different kinds of meds. He gets used to them and then they have to try something different. The one I liked the best and it really seemed to help him was the daytrana patches. But like all the other meds, he went up to 30 mg's a day and they don't make them stronger so we had to go through the pain in the neck of trying another med that might work for him. Have you noticed any of the meds your child/children have been on to make their symptoms worse? Some of his meds made him change his voice to a high pitched nasal voice. I always thought he had tourettes. As he would growl and make other weird noises and would do somethings over and over again, blurt things out. I guess I didn't realize this was all part of ADHD. I know it is a chemical imbalance on the brain.
