What is prayer?

What is prayer, and how are we to pray? For most of my life, I thought I understood prayer. It was like talking to God, and was done at certain times, like in the morning, at night and of course when you went to church. In recent years I've changed my mind about a lot of things, and one of them is prayer. I'm sure that many people are going to disagree with me, but I now believe that we are praying all the time. Every thought, every word, every deed is a prayer, in other words our whole life is a prayer. I now try to get rid of negative thoughts, I am more careful over my speech and I am especially careful over what I do. I now know that what I do unto others will be done unto me. Oh, there are still times when I say a prayer as before, usually a prayer of gratatude

yes sure prayers are the words which will give encourage ourself to our mind to believe the gods praises. another way we can see the candle light burning for a long time as we pray to god for more concentration in our prayer

Your whole life should be a prayer, and a prayer is thankfulness and dependence on God. It does not mean walking around with a pious look on your face, but it means having the attitude that you know that God is with you.
Of course, we should pray before we go to sleep and when we awake in the morning, praise God, ask for the requests of the day, for unsaved members, for the government, and thank HIM for answering those requests and then praise HIM after wards.

prayer is just communicating with God and your Savior. prayer is indeed wonderful and it helps and changes things too. I pray before going to sleep.
I want to pray everyday but sometimes I am guilty of not praying always. you are right our whole life should be a prayer.
your life should be a prayer, our thoughts should be psalms, our words thanksgiving, our actions a gratitude of praise.
and that is wonderful that now you are careful of your speech and words.

well for me, prayer is our only communication to god..

Come to think of it, I've never knew how and what to pray back then. But when I turned pages on the Bible, I've found a time to be with Him and treasure His teachings. I pray and follow His words, I do my best to pray according to what He has told me too. That is to pray in peace, by praying "Our Father."
Other than that, I don't try to add any words because I believe He already knows what I want or wish for and what I'm going to thank for.
