That's me my friend.I always put on smile and pretend that I'm really fine.I had so hard child age but again even as a young girl I was the center of my friends, always smiling even if crying from inside. My very close friends know that as much I'm seems happy many times I have problems in my head.I just don't talk about them easy and specially to everyone.I know few people do.I 'm not sure if talking about what bother you help or make the problem even bigger....

Hi Terry, nope, I never do anything like it and find it unnatural when done by others, as i usually can tell when the way one behaves is real or fake ;) LOL, what's the point really and why pretending something that is not so? It is definitely not in this country's culture to fake how one feels

Yes I am that kind of Person and I do it every time that is just me
But People that really know well always know there is something up no matter how hard I try to hide it
The good thing though is when you sit on the Computer and you are trying to soothe a Friend they are not able to see if you are in Tears and down and I will not say how many times I have done that lol

I was like this for a long time. Now if I've had a rough day everyone knows it. If I have a smile on my face now either I'm trully enjoying your company or something really good has happened that day.

Hi Terry!
I know exactly how you feel. I do the "front" all the time! A lot of times I do it because I don't want people to pester me into telling them whats wrong when it's really none of their business. I try and smile as much as I can, but like you said after a while it gets tougher and tougher! I'm not always sad though, sometimes when I walk around smiling I really am happy =) Have a good weekend!
Love & Hugzz, Your Friend, PurpleTeddyBear!

I always give a good front and pretend that everything is okay in my life. When I start complaining, my offline friends tell me to get over it, as if I can, so to avoid that remark I just say, 'fine." It rather upsets me, because sometimes I want to tell them how I feel, without learning of someone who went through a harder circumstances, although different then mine, and yet survived.
Trouble is, soon the problem becomes insurmountable and I am blabbing it all over.

You may not want to hear from me on this one because I don't feel the same way as most people here. If things are not OK in my world I will and can honestly say so. I don't like to worry my daughter but whenever I try to cover with her I'm busted she sees right through me. I do know what #6 suspensful means about trying to talk to someone and suddenly they have a biggar problem. That is a pet peeve, mind you I have the gift of the gab and I don't have much trouble saying what's on my mind most times. Take care my friend.

I've been blessed such that most of the time everything is really okay in my life. When I do have problems I don't feel a need to pretend. Especially when I'm with my true friends I don't hesitate to talk about my problems. They wouldn't be true friends if they couldn't understand.

Well maybe because I did study acting I know how to pretend..the show must go on. Let me tell you a story...this had to do with my acting days too. I was in a performance of Ibsen's Hedda Gabler (as the lead no less..lol)--It was during the summer, and there was no air conditioning in the college theater were the performance was..I was dressed in a period style costume, a velvet dress to the floor, I felt lousy not only from the heat, but hadn't slept much...before performance nerves, and on top of it, had just gotten my period that morning...so yeah, I was sure in fine form...LOL--but the show had to go on! heheee
But yes, even now, I can feel like real drek, or maybe I'm going through one of my real stressed out times, but yes, will still "act" cheerful when I'm out, even though I'd rather crawl under a rock, or go back and crawl into bed and forget the world for awhile. Once I'm home I just kind of take it easy and let the mood pass it's normal course...

Yup. I'm like that. I'm actually good at it. I'm used to pretending I'm okey when I'm with friends or is out there shopping and stuff. I just don't want them to get involved with me at the moment especially if I'm not that ready to talk about the situation I'm upset at. ;)

I could too, but if Im that upset or freaked out about something, I usually just decline. Most times I can put on a smile and be my usual self, but there are times when I just wear my emotions on my sleeve! Ive been told Im "dramatic" lol I dont doubt that, hey atleast I can admit it. ;)

I would not want to call it "pretend." Maybe we do it in order not to spoil the day you have with friends. Certainly they don't want to be with someone who is not fun to be with when they go out. However, if they are really true friends, they can understand if you show your true emotions regarding what is happening in your life. They too would like to know the real emotion you feel at the moment, so don't afraid to show them.
