I Published an Article!

I had signed up with this site a couple of months ago where you can publish various material. I had never done anything about it though. For some reason I went there today with a mission in mind. I knew that if I was ever going to do anything there today would have to be the day. The end result was that I finally published my first article! What a relief that is. I knew that had I not gotten it done today I would probably never get up the nerve. I think it was well-received because I have started getting comments already. Have you ever gotten stagefright over publishing any of your material? How did you overcome it?

congratulations! great accomplishment. i have been wanting to start writing real articles, discussing various issues about life among other things, maybe publish or work on a blog. it is not stage fright that has impeded me from pushing for these projects, i get tied up with my real estate work, and when i get the chance to write, i can only manage, few lines. i am glad you finally did. i wish i can do as you have accomplished. i will keep you in mind for inspiration. many thanks, Perry

You are very gracious, UNPINOY, and I appreciate the support. My forte is poetry, but I think it is nice to venture out and try something new once in a while.

First of all congratulations there worldwise...was it with Helium or Associated Content??...I would love to read it so can you PM me and give me the link?? Please!! ;) I must be tougher than I realize as I just go ahead and do things...a friend of mine actually kidded me and once said to me I have brass balls ...LOL I tend to leap into something without thinking about it, cause if I did, I might back out too When I first decided to see about getting my photos published back in 1980 I just went ahead and did it...I sent portfolio after portfolio and hit it lucky after only a few tries and had my first published photo in April of 1980--same thing when it came to getting short stories published...oh, yes, I would often get rejections but I would just pick myself up, and send my photos or stories to the next one on my list and kept after it--then too, I'm stubborn--LOL

I would be interested in the link as well. I have a membership at a site that I have never submitted to, and a few places where I just do a little now and then. Let me know what site it is, and send the link. I am like you, things must be just right for me to do something.

I would be happy to send you the link, pyewacket. I really only did it as a test, but it will give me the courage to really get out there and get my feet wet now. I find it hard to picture you being daunted by anything, lol. You are what I call a real go-getter!

I think the main idea, rx4life, is to start out small-at least for me. It only requires a trial run to boost your courage. Best of luck.

By publishing it as you did. It is scary at first but you will get used to it. I have had some rejections but I review and correct the article and submit it to another site.

Thanks for the tip, naty. I am learning to take rejection in stride, lol. I am serious about writing and I've decided it's about time I quit fooling around. After all, I'm not getting any younger.

I'm happy for you about your article. Congratulations! I've never tied to publish and article, so I can't answer your question on stagefright, I just wanted to stop in and say Congrats!

Thank you, miamilady. Like I said, it was nothing spectacular, but a big step for me. I am not the most confident person in the world. I am working on trying to bring myself out of my shell, lol.

Congratulations! I hope you feel proud, and fulfilled. I tend to try not to dwell on it too much when I put something out there for others to read. Admittedly, I started off at Helium, and while some of the articles are fantastic, others wouldn't pass an elementary english test, so I felt fairly confident that while my writing may not be fantastic, I know that it is well researched, with time and effort put into the formatting, editing and spelling. I do tend to feel more jittery when posting any fiction work - probably because the story and characters are of my own making, and not related to a particular topic, with guidelines to follow. I'd love to read what you read, so I've sent through a friend request. Hope that you're happy to pm me with the link :)

I would be happy to have you read my article, kriszelunka! It's nothing earthshaking-just some of my own personal feelings, but I finally did get something out there.

When I first started posting on Gather, I would get a wicked case of the jitters. The same was for posting on MyLot. I have since gotten over my jitters. But, it took quite a while.

Yes, Elusive, I know the feeling. I had published a short story on another site that I thought was a decent story, but I never heard back from them so it didn't do a lot for my self confidence. Then I thought, what the heck, writers have to have a thick skin and be able to take rejection. I know of several who are top writers and they say they had to go through this also.

There is never anything to be afraid of. Now that you have gotten your feet wet, keep going in the direction you want to. If you desire to be a writer, then never give up that dream. You spoke of having a mission in mind. That is exactly the way you need to keep looking at whatever it is you want in life. I am happy for you taking this bold step and being successful.

WOW that is great news to hear, I am so happy to hear that things are going great for you with your writing. I have never had anything published but then again I am not really a writer but like to read things others write. Keep up the great work and you will go far. Hugs!

I appreciate your good wishes, hoghoney. This was just something on the spur of the moment-nothing serious. Ijust wanted to get a feel for how things worked. I'm glad I went ahead with it.
