The dog sat for almost an hour completely ignoring me. He lay perfectly still and ignored the temptation of getting his picture taken, getting petted, a dog treat...
I soon discovered why.
He was "fly" hunting.
I'm adding a picture of him following the fly until he finally caught it. In the photograph you'll notice the fly sitting on his paw while he remained still so it wouldn't fly off.
Does anyone else have an insect hunting dog too?

yah!! my dogs do, actually i think all dogs do.. I just love to watch them do that... they're so cute and i am really enjoyed watching them when they do that. You know, when they stop moving just for the "fly" not to fly, then after that they will immediately grab or eat it. Then i laugh the give my dogs a treat for that.. hehehe

I know what you mean, it's very cute and specially our dog because he's so huge and he gets so still and quiet - just quietly watching the fly....LOL! I love the cute doggie things he does.

OH Ya. My Shepherd loves to hunt anything that moves. you will follow of piece of his fur if a gust of wind blows it up. the best is watching him hunt a butterfly.

I think it's so cute to see the contrast of huge dog hunter and tiny insect prey ... specially when they're playful and jumping around like little puppies
