It's funny you ask this, because a few weeks ago, my daughters year 9 maths teacher told me that I was a perfectionist & so is my daughter!
I guess that means I am a perfectionist.

There are some things that I still try to be a perfectionist in and that would be bowling and my job. Anything else I settle for that will do. :-) I think it is unhealthy for us to try and be perfectionists. Trying to be a perfectionist can be quite stressful. I am definitely not as much of a perfectionist as I used to be.

Perfection is rather a relative term because every one has different outllok for same thing.
To be a perfect is a time consuming and requires hard work and you are involved too much than required.
Secondly time is changing so fast,so perfect thing at this moment will have many shorfalls after very short time.
So to be happy with self work try to give best rather than perfect.
This will satify you and save your time and mimnimise tension.

I am neither a perfectionist nor a person for whom anything will do. I like to get things done my way, but I don't mind in compromising depending upon the situation.

Hi Jan135, hmm, yes, I am very much of a perfectionist even though I try to loosen up a bit, it doesnt work always. Than I get uptight and upset when I know that I could do much better than "that" and keep doing it until done to perfection. It sucks in a way as I get deeply disturbed when "perfection" doesn't hapen right from the beginning and I am there losing time in trying to fix it and make it perfect.
It's making your life much more difficult than it should be, when looked at it from someone elses perspective. LOL, I should start with it myself, pretending that I am someone else looking at me and how I do or am trying to do things :)

Oh yes maybe too much, I can't see the point in even starting something unless what I am about to do will be done to the best of my ability, I am always striving for perfection.

i am a perfectionist when i really care about something, for example, if i think this work is very important, i will try my best to make it perfect. however, in ordinary life, i always say that will be ok, dont be critical. so, i think whether people be a perfectionist or not depends on what they deal with, or whether such thing is worthful perfecting.
