Why does Gibbs(NCIS) treat Abby better than others?

Besides her attributes listed by others above and the fact she seldom screws up, he may think of her as a daughter figure since his daughter was killed. He still expects a lot from her and, also, knows the best way to get results from her.

Maybe he's a little scare of her. I think she worries most of them, except maybe Ducky.

Not to diminish any of the other characters skills, but from a guy's point of view, just look at her. She's young, beautiful, trendy, unique, quirky(in a good way), and most of all, SMART. She ALWAYS comes through, either directly or indirectly. I like her better and I'm not even in the show. All I can do is watch.

I believe The Bond is like father daughter here. and she wants to please Gibbs as much as he relies on her to do the best she can. I do not think the show would work without her! and I personally do not like the way he treats the rest of the team sometimes.

I think they just have a special bond with eachother. It may be like father and daughter. they each knows when the other know something or like that.

its just because he loves me so much. i'm like a daughter to him and ive never let him down before. he even said so. lol. and he likes my hyper personality and hugs lol hugs and squgs. yours, abby :)

I do not think it is because she is smarter then the rest. I think it is because she is probably the same age as his daughter had been had she lived, and perhaps his daughter may have showed promise of being like Abby. Also the others are in his direct team while Abby is not and so he does not expect that much from her. She also dresses younger and so in the case of someone who dresses as a teenager, he sort of treats her like that while the others are more adult and he expects more from them.

I think because Gibbs thinks Abby as her own daughter and Abby treat Gibbs as her Father (Hiatus part 1). And because Abby is Gibbs favorite colleagues (probably because she is sweet)

I think he likes Abby because he thinks of her as a daughter, whereas the others are more like good friends.

Shes the one that will give him the info he needs, knows how to tell it in a way he will understand (not like Mcgee who does the technical speel) only to get her massive soda reward! I think it is like everyone has said that father/daughter bond! Maybe Gibbs respects woman that are younger than him. An interesting subject, i might have to see what gooogle says about Gibbs and Abby - who knows maybe they are having a secret relationship lol

Sorry about coming in late on this discussion, but I have just recently become obsessed with this show. Gibbs yells at his agents because he wants to make them tough. By staying on their case, they stay focused and he doesn't have to worry as much about losing them on a case. Tony, Ziva and McGee are the three that are in the line of fire with him 24/7, so Gibbs has to keep them on their toes. In my opinion, that is why most of the head slaps are directed at Tony. Not only is Tony his senior field agent, but I think that Gibbs sees a younger version of himself when he looks at Tony. In fact, during one episode, Ducky, who has known Gibbs the longest, even says that very thing. Those two have a father/son relationship and even though Gibbs acts like a father figure towards Ziva and McGee, there is something special in Tony and Gibbs' relationship. In "Hiatus" after Kate is killed and Gibbs is acting "nice," Tony complains to Abby about this fact. Abby states that Gibbs is always nice to which Tony replies, "To you and Ducky he's nice. With me, he growls and slaps me on the head." Abby replies, "Which makes you feel needed." and Tony agrees. This shows that everyone knows that Abby is Gibbs' favorite. Why? Simply because Abby is a very lovable character. When Abby bought flowers for Tony after her forensics findings sent him to jail, she asked Tony not to hate her. He replied, "I could NEVER hate you. I don't think anyone could ever hate you." That sums up Abby's character perfectly. She is the type of person that everyone loves, whether it's as a surrogate daughter, sister, granddaughter, whatever. However, as far as the yelling goes, Gibbs has yelled at her a few times. Not like he has the others, by any means, but he has raised his voice to her and threatened to slap her like he does DiNozzo, only not in the head. Think about the episodes "Chained" when he couldn't get a GPS signal on Tony's whereabouts or in "SWAK" when he is yelling at anyone and everyone. As a matter of fact, he even signs something at her to which Abby replies, "Not nice, Gibbs. Not nice." While Gibbs doesn't yell at her as much as the others, he has his moments. Gibbs yells at everyone from time to time. The only difference is that Abby - and Ducky and Tony as well - know how to handle his rants better than the others and also expect this of him. Abby is so loving (always giving hugs to everyone) and sweet that Gibbs can't help but love her. Add in the fact that he has lost a daughter and it is obvious why he is so fond of her.

Abby is smart and damn good at her job but she can also be very childlike and naive. So I agree with everyone else, Gibbs thinks of her as a daughter. If you're a fan of the show, watch how she interacts with the rest of the cast. She's got a curious and innocent way about her. Who could resist that? I just want to give her a huge hug, she's freakin' adorable.
