I think that it would be fun to guess, or theorize how the first cat was domesticated.
So here is my (fun) guess:
The first cat was seen catching and eating a rodent in a nearby field, but ran off when it saw humans. However, the humans saw what the cat had done and thought that the cat would be useful in the future. So they tried to approach the cat slowly, speaking to it in their language, but the cat became frightened and took off. Days and weeks passed, until....gradually the humans left some meat for the cat and gradually befriended it.
Ok, so I've left out a few details, lol!

Man started farming & storing grain in large bins. Rodents came & tried to get into the bins. Then the cats came and hunted the rodents. Seeing that the cats were killing the vermin someone, probably a woman, started putting out water or milk for the cats. Seeing that this was a pretty good deal, the cats hung around & started having kittens. Children found the kittens & started playing with them so the kittens were more socialized than their parents. In a few generations, the now more socialized cats were coming into the houses to chase rodents & discovering that there were safer places to sleep inside, they kept coming in.

I think that sounds like a very wise and true answer for what happened. Not sure cats will ever be truly "domesticated" though - they are always going to be proud, wild, and independant creatures! That's one of the reaosn I love them so much!!

Unfortunately I don't remember the details but I was actually told by my first grade teacher how the cat became man's friend. Did you know that the cat was the very first domesticated animal? It just came one day and sat by the fire. (okay, there was some more stuff that I don't remember but that's the outline :P )

sounds about right, if its anything like my cat, men decided to feed it one day and the cat kept coming back for a couple of weeks until mr. human decided why n adopt mr. cat and mr. cat was happy about living ith mr. human so at the end of the day everyone was happy and there is how the first cat (similar to my first cat) was domesticated.
