Evil Aliens! As soon as you hear the title, you know what to expect: splatter comedy style horror in the vein of Braindead, Bad Taste, The Janitor and Cradle of Fear. Guess what? That is exactly what Evil Aliens is! I was quite sceptical when I went to see it, being that the only Jake West (writer/director) film I had seen before was Razor Blade Smile, which I thought was quite tedious. Evil Aliens has mediocre actors and some quite bad jokes, but it's also fast paced and a lot of fun. The balance between extremely gory violence and extremely black humour is exceptionally well pulled off. The film lasts for one and a half hours, which seems like the perfect length. The film doesn't drag on at all. It pretty much manages to stay entertaining and funny for that amount of time. Considering the budget I was quite impressed with the action scenes and the special effects. The CGI looks a bit obvious sometimes, but it doesn't detract from the action. Recommended for fans of the genre! (if you've heard of above mentioned films) Not recommended for anyone who doesn't smile at the mention of 'Braindead'. Have you seen Evil Aliens? What did you think?
