I dont know about you, but I'm hating my computer. My laptop died the other day so now I'm using my dads old pentium, windows 98, 33K modem computer! Its slow and I'm suprised its using the net. My laptop was 56k modem, Windows XP, Pentium 3. Ya it might be alittle slower then the new ones, but its faster than this one! LOL So what kind of computer do you have and how fast is your net?

I have windows XP, Pentium III Service Pack 2. My computer still works pretty well. I have some techniques on how to make it more faster. If you want some techniques, maybe I can share it to you if you want. The reason why your computer slows down is because you have lots of applications running in the background in conjunction with your antivirus software during startup or thereafter. On the other hand, there are also some services that can be safely disabled by going to system configuration utility. This is very effective, believe me.
Have a nice day and God speed!

You should not knock Windows 98, I have always found it to be reliable even with broadband internet speeds, sadly it is out dated and alot of new software is nt compatible with it so I have had to upgrade to Windows XP SP2, which I find can be alittle sticky at times. Look on the bright side at very least you can still connect to the internet.Happy surfing.

I am sorry to hear that you have gotten back to your dad's old PC. While you are using your dad's PC have your laptop fixed right away. I understand your predicament using the windows 98, 33k modem because I was there too. Luckily, my nephew gave me a Celeron PC with 256 MB RAM with 56K modem and equipped with Windows XP OS. Now I am connected to a broadband and its super fast and I am always online since it is an unlimited surfing.

I think it is time you invest in a computer or laptop by replacing your old set. So many things are done on a computer nowadays, that investing in a reasonably powerful one is worthwhile indeed.
I have 2 computers at home. One is an Intel Core2Duo 1.86GHz CPU with 1GB RAM. The other is an Intel Pentium 3.0GB CPU with 500MB RAM. They are all pretty powerful systems, but they are necessary for all the powerful software that I run on them. My internet is ADSL broadband running on 3Mbps.

Hello WiteNgtOwl.
I'm sorry to hear about your laptop. As for me, I cannot tolerate slow computers because it costs time. I wish I have more patience for that but I don't. That's why I really take care and maintain the one that I'm using. It's Pentium 4, XP and on broadband. I need computer with high speed as I'm on the internet a lot. I try to establish business or income-generating site that's why I need a fast computer, otherwise I would miss a lot of opportunities. I hope your laptop will be up soon or you'll get a new one somehow soon. Take care

Well, don't feel too bad...
Tis is a 633mhz celeron with 128mb of ram and it is dying fast.
I am hoping it will live for another few months until I can replace it with something better.
On the plus side it is connected to the net with 3mbps DSL which helps with the pain a little.
