What do you think of the Death Penalty?

I choose the catetgory LIfe for this discussion, it being appropiate.
What are your views on the death Penalty?
I believe the Death Penalty gives the wrong message to the community. If it is okay to have State Sanctioned killing, then it is okay for individuals to kill for revenge.
The government needs to show that they take crime seriously & to actively try to prevent it, in ways other than the death penalty. Our country does not have the death penalty.

Why not just put all murderers, rapists and child molesters into one jail with minimum security inside the jail.
