as best as we can! ;) I have been with mylot for a while now and I noticed that many of you are not really familiar with my country, Singapore. Well, to make things simple, I am hoping you can post your questions here... and I will try my best to answer them based on whatever I know. Fellow Singaporeans are more than welcome to share their knowledge to questions posted here! ;) To get the thread started... here are some of the questions I came across. what's the national language of Singapore? Well, the official national language of Singapore, I read somewhere before, is Malay. But being the multi-racial make up of the population, English is the common language used among peers of different races here. The other major languages that are taught in schools are Malay, Mandarin, Tamil. What religion do most Singaporeans practice? As our country is multi-racial, there are many religions being practiced here. Races such as Chinese, Malays, Indians, Eurasians, Caucasians, Sikh... each has their own practices and cultures. There are the different branches of Christianity... Taoism... Buhhdism... Muslim... Hinduism... etc etc. So I really cannot say for sure which religion most Singaporeans practices.

I'm a yellow skin Singaporean. not a Chinese from China or so call PRC. I'm practicing Tibetan Buddhist. Rice and noodle are fine for me. To identify a Singaporean easily, they are kai-su (scare of loss out) and kaisi (scare of die).

ha ha ha ha ha... Kia Su and Kia See eh? True..e true... to many extends I have to agree with you. Sometimes, especially when one is oversea... one who is Singaporean tend to be able to recognize another very easily. Either just by observation of their body language or the way they speak. Most times it is ok... but some times, it is on over statement to say that their behavior is less than flattering to the image of being a Singaporean.

Wow... this is a tough one! It would really depend on what kind of products you are aiming to buy. Our shopping centers here carry so many products, and they are all so varied in varieties, there isn't really one particular place for common items like shoes, clothes, cosmetics and groceries. For consumables like branded handbags, high end kitchen ware... places like Takashimaya, Robinsons, Paragon... comes to mind. All of them are situated in the major shopping belt along Orchard Road. If you are looking for electronics, there is two major places that people will go to. Funan center and Sim Lim Square. From cameras to camcorders to video home entertainment center all the way to the various computer parts and handheld devices can be found there. so, unless you are able to give me a more specific shopping list, it is really hard to tell you what is good at where. Cos in a shopping paradise like Singapore, every where you go, you can find the thing you want. Question is whether you are getting it at the bargain price. ;)

should we start with where the pple from singapore are actually from? guess none of our ancestors are actually native singaporeans. our ancestors come from china, india, malaysia or other countries when singapore was still under the infamous british india company. our national language is malay, as can be seen from our anthem. all subjects (excluding languages of course) are taught in english, and our mother tongue is considered a second language. there are eight or nine major religions in singaore, including zoroastrian about the people (where we means the general population): 1. we think we love to eat. 2. we have no qualms about paying the price of a house in australia for a car 3. we change mobile phones every year or so will add more when i can think of them :D
