I hate my computer

For the time being I feel like hating my computer. It is part of the reason why I haven't started a discussion in several weeks. The computer has served me well over the period of the last five years. I know that I should probably replace it but as of right now funds are going to pay off debt incurred on credit cards due to a bad business decision a few years back.
Anyway about a month ago my power supply burned out. I harvested a power supply from another computer that was in the possession of a friend of mine. After getting the computer up and running again I only have 16 colors and 800 by 600 pixels. There is no way to change this except to 640 by 480 which is an even worse setting. So it's either getting a new video card and a portable hard drive to free up space or getting a completely new computer. I still need much of the software and data on my computer.
What would you do if this were your situation?

I need a new computer, too, but I can't afford it! :( I am sorry to hear about your problems! :(

yeah, I think you could make use of a new PC. If you buy a new one, you can upgrade your operational system, that usually gives you less problems.
