i found myself with a lot of free time after months long of works. and the things now, i really got bored easily. so i thought i would like to read as a way to spend my time. i like fiction fantasy book. but right now i'm at loss as which one should i get. i read all darren shan saga last month and found that i don't really like the how the stories goes. though the author already hint it in the first book it not going to be a happy one. currently im reading the first book of earthseas saga and afterfinished with this im considering 'wheel of time' series. im not sure if it suit my taste or not. so im asking, if any of you can recommend me a good series.

Terry Pratchett - Terence David John Pratchett OBE (born 28 April 1948) is an English fantasy and science fiction author, best known for his Discworld series. Other works include the Johnny Maxwell Trilogy and the Bromeliad Trilogy. He also closely collaborates on adaptations of his books, such as computer games and plays.

Pratchett started to write by the age of 13 and his first work was published commercially at the age of 15. His first novel The Carpet People was published in 1971. The first Discworld novel The Colour of Magic was published in 1983 and since then, he writes two books a year on average.

Pratchett was the UK's best selling author in the 1990s. As of February 2007, he had sold approximately 50 million books worldwide and has been translated into 33 languages. He is currently the second most read writer in the UK and seventh most read non-US author in the U.S. Terry Pratchett was named an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 1998 "for services to literature." His novel The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents won the 2001 Carnegie Medal for the best book for children. Pratchett and his work are often described as having a cult following.
I strongly recommend Terry Pratchett's books. "The Discworld" series is exceptional! It has 37 novels and the author promised a 38th. But don't worry, you can read them independently. I have read only the first 3 books, and I'm waiting for the next to be translated. Another good series of his is "The Bromeliad trilogy", consisting of 3 novels "Truckers", "Diggers" and "Wings".

It really depends on how fantasy you want it. The Mercedes Lackey books are great reads. I espcially recommend her latest series, the 500 kingdoms. Start with The Fairy Godmother, then One Good Knight finally her latest Fortune's Fool. They are under a "romance" imprint. But you can't go wrong with any of her books, the Urban Elves, Valdemar, the Bards series or her Elemental Masters series. ENJOY!

I read some of the wheel of time series but found the books got progressively worse. The discworld series by Terry Pratchett is excellent and very funny. David Eddings Belgariad and Mallorean Raymond Feists Magician series Anne McCaffrey is not only an excellent writer but has several great series - the dragonriders, the tower series, the ship series, the crystal singer series, the acorna series and more. Douglas Adams - Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. Marion Zimmer bradley - some of her darkover books are great and she also has an avalon series.

I am a great fan of Anne McCaffrey and her Pern series but also her Tower and Hive series. My other favourites are the Dragonlance and Forgotten Realms series of books, particularly by R A Salvatore about the drowe (dark elves). I can honestly say that I am totally hooked on Anne Mccaffrey's books

I love Robert Asprin's Myth series- the books all have titles that are word-plays involving the word "myth". The first I believe is "Hit or Myth". The same author also has a series called something like Phule's Adventure, but I've yet to read them myself. I'm also a huge fan of Roger Zelazany's (sp could be wrong) series "The Chronicles of Amber".

I really liked Ender's Game by orson scott card. There are a bunch of books in this series, although I still think the first is the best. I hope you find some great books!

EXILES: The Ruins of Ambrai By Melanie Rawn If you can put this 900 page book down to so much as grab a drink of water it will be more than I ever could. Melanie Rawn is a very underappreciated/little known author, but she deserves to be world famous. She writes very eloquently, and her complex story lines and intrigues are air tight. You can tell she spends months and months of story boarding before she ever sets pen to paper. Give her a try... I promise no other book wil ever compare.

I would reccomend His Dark Materials for Phillup Pullman if you have not read them already. It a a trilogy consising of The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass. It is a fantasitc series. I've read them twice already and I may have to read them again as the movies are going to start coming out soon. Good luck finding a new series.
