With all the negitive media coverage with ritlin

Would you look else where if your child was in need of a drug like ritlin or continue to use it. I have a 15 year old who at age 6 was diagnosed with ADHD. At the time ritlin was used alot and the media coverage on it was slim, we put him on it. The dr said if its not broke dont fix it so he had been on ritlin till last year when we removed him from all meications.
