SCAM, SCAM, SCAM. If you are an American Citizen I have been told by authorities that it is illegal for you to accept lottery funds from a foreign country. The information those emails want classify as phishing and give the sender all the information to steel your identity. Check Scambusters on the net, they can tell you more about it.

DELETE it, it's defineatly a scam, they want you to give out your personal information. Never give anyone this type of info unless you are positive you know they are really genuine. I get many e-mails like this, but as far as the Australian lottery goes, you have to play it to get any kind of prize.

Firstly you have to remember did you enter into the Australian lottery? if the answer is no, then why would you have won any money in this lottery if you didn't play in the first place. I live in Australia and the Australian lottery do not contact you by e-mail in the first place if you have won a large sum of money. I still believe this is a scam. Delete it and forget about it for your own sake.

It is just hoax. I also received that message and the idea of winning a lottery made me happy, thinking where to spend such amount of money. However, I had doubts for I have not joined any lottery at all not even in my own country. It is very tricky, for it will ask you to pay for transfer charges and even taxes in which you would be tempted to pay for. I asked them if the amount I have won can just be deducted with what they were asking for and their answer was "no we cannot deduct the charges from the principal amount". With that, it is clear hoax. What if I gave them the amount they were asking for? (Though I am just a poor fellow who cannot afford such amount of charges. Maybe even if I can afford it, I will still look after the surety or guarantee of it.) It is but easier for them to hide and never email you back after getting what they really want and that is, your money. Be careful with these scams. Good luck to you!
