My cat, the ninja one, was out in the backyard today and there was a squirrel that had been teasing him. Well finally I saw him shoot across the yard this close to the squirrel. He almost got it. Then it kept teasing him. I dont like when my cats kill things but I dont think a cat could kill a squirrel. What do you think? My cat is a pretty good ninja if he can get that close to a squirrel.

Oh yes they can kill a squirrel, lol.I use to have a stray cat that came here and i fed her.She killed a couple of sqiurrels and brought them to show me on the door step before eating them, hehe, ewww! She was like a speedy gonzloes squirrel chasing machine, lol.I was picking up alot of squirrel tales around the house and it did not bother me because they use to climb on my car and scratch the hood, chew on the new patio plastic railings, raid the bird feeders and climb on the brick on the house and try and go in the rafters chewing.Squirrels can screw up alot and cats are sneaky and fast too. They both can climb trees, but the cat has the sharper claws, haha.:)Its so full of those little rascals here, all you hear is the chattering of the teeth, sqeaking and sqeaking, lol.Little buggers, they are cute though.;)

Ewwwww!I cant even picture this long black or grey(its been awhile since i saw one)rat tail with the cat palying with it,hahaha.I almost took a tale to hang in my car,i never saw one so big before in my life and fluffy, lol. One time an older cat i had that stayed in the house caught a mouse one night,we never had mice before but she found one and put the bottom half of it in my boyfriends work boot. When he went to put it on he felt something and put his hand in there and pulled the tale out first with the butt shortly behind it and hollard, hahaha.Surprise!!He said to give her a very special treat.Indeed i did.:)Good kitty:)

I know how squirrels can be. I had a cat that made a trip to the vet because one ripped his chest open. It is only natural for a cat to hunt, but I quit letting mine, as much as I could, hunt squirrels. It was an expensive lesson and one I'm not willing to put another cat through or me. With the diseases squirrels are know to carry, my vet advised that pets not be allowed to pursue them. It requires that I watch my cat more when it is outside, but I'd rather do that then have my beloved cat injured. Yes, I have known cats that can kill squirrels and do. The ones we had in the country when I was a kid, killed squirrels all the time.

Oh my gosh im so sorry to hear that. Did your cat survive? I hope it did. Im surprised cats can catch them because they are so quick and often run up trees just as fast. Thanks for the heads up. Next time ill be sure to intervene. Thanks for responding.

Yes, my cat did and lived to be 14 years old and then got bit my a black widow spider in the face. It must have found it in the basement of our rented house. It was so sad to have to put my cat to sleep, but the chances of it recovering were poor and it was in such pain. It was so sad to have to admit the vet knew more than me. I really wanted to save the cat, but I couldn't stand listening to the pain that Adolph was in and the vet didn't advise it. He said they could operate and the cat could still suffer from the bite and he couldn't guarantee that one surgery would be enough. Guess black widow bites are just as big a problem for a animal as they are for us. It is such a shame that an animal does what comes naturally to them, hunt, and then get so seriously hurt.

I used to think that Garfield chasing Odie or any dog was a joke, until my cat Spot began beating up the dogs in my neighborhood street, especially those that dare go near their food tray. So I guess any animal that will tease cats will get what they're asking for. And it wasn't a pretty sight for the dog that my cat Spot beat up, I dont know how she beat that dog but the dog was whining all the way down the street.
