Parents bear a lot of hardships to bring up their children. But the children especially, a son does fulfil its duties. Children of newage are not respective to their parents and they think they know more than their parents. They may know more but they are less expierence and they always need their parents support when they are in distress...

There are children who are reallly disrespectful. But not all children, though. I guess it would all depend on how a parent would raise their child. If a parent allows their child to show disrespect to them, they will get used to this habit, and tend to disrespect other older people too. My own children are very respectful. They show respect not only to us, but to all other older people. I will never tolerate disrepect in our home. My children would tell me everynow and then how shocked they are when some classmates would show total disrespect for their teachers at school. They themselves realize that it isn't right to disrespect the elders. They tell me that probably in the homes of these disrespectful classmates, the parents just allow their children to be very disrespectful. And that, for them is very wrong.

I disagree that it's a new thing. Or that children today are somehow different than children throughout time. Children learn what we teach them. IMO it's a cop-out to say that their friends, media, school, etc influence them more than we do. If we don't like the messages they get from their friends, the media, their school it's still our job & right as parents to change those things- you can't hang out unsupervised with your friends, or shut the TV off, etc. If you fail to do those things, it's by your choice that those things influence your kids more than you do.

I think it is very important to make sure that our children have respect for us. The main way to earn our children's respect is to be consistent, fair, and respectable parents. I've seen alot of situation where the parents would smoke, get drunk, and be very disrespectable to others in front of their children. What type of lesson does this teach?
