Hey,
I am 41 years old. I have no driver licens. I had to take the bike to get to work today, and of course get home the same way. Here it is fall and it is very dark. The light on the bike are rare and small. I hardly see the road. Now, why do I not have the driver license then you might ask. Well I have no the money needed to get one. Loans I already have enough of and will not get more of them. So If my sister not can get me home from work, I have to take the bike.
It is expensive to get?
I have ten minutes with the car to work.
It will stay still during the hole day
I have ten minutes with car home.
For me it is not god motivation enough to make that investment that it is to take the license.
Am I the only person without a driver license? If not, why do you not have one?

I made a conscious decision when I was about 18 to never get a car and turned in my liscense voluntarily after 4 or 5 years of not having a car.
The big reason for me was weighing the pros and cons of having a car vs the global warming vs public transport. In a big city I can get almost anywhere on public transport. Not having a car means I don't have the expense of maintaining it, which can be $100s on a monthly basis.
I made that decision 20 years ago and I have as yet to be given a reason to seriously consider changing it.

My reason are financial. I do not have the amount needed to get it. It is also no motivation for me to get it just to get to work which will only take about five minutes when I can take the bike. I get workout in the same time and god air when I in my job work in doors almost all day without getting god air. I think you are right. We have to think a bit of our worlds conditions. one day we might not have it left.
Thank you for responding.

I was 50 years old before I learnt to drive and I don't regret it at all. As I find it increasingly more and more difficult to walk for any length of time now, taking public transport is not an option and my car is my lifeline.

Well, god for you.
I have thought about wait until the kids have moved out.
I have two, one (20) have moved out, but I to go. He is 16 so I guess it will not take long until he goes to. I can not afford it yet. Here in Sweden it is rather expensive, I do not know about out broad. But I will have to have about more than $12 000 to be able to get it.
thankĀ“s for responding
Have a nice day.

I am 39 and will be 40 in June and I have never had one either. I've had a learner's permit a couple of times and I can drive if I have to but I don't have a license.
When we lived in Texas I took the public buses everywhere but where I live now we don't have any so my Mom or my youngest Brother take me where I have to go. I hate depending on anyone else though.
I can drive fine if it's just me but when there are other cars around I panic like crazy. It's so nerve racking to just drive around the block. Nope, I don't see me ever driving.
