Swimming In The Ocean

I live close to the beach. About 5 miles away. I really enjoy swimming but I have to say that there are many times that I would rather not go in the water. As in, when there are signs saying to stay out of certain areas because of storm drains dumping waste into the ocean. I do have the option of going to a swimming pool. But sometimes I would much rather swim in the ocean. I question the quality of the water at any beach however. I see signs that try to discourage people from fishing and I see pollution. Are beaches ever going to be safe to swim in again? I don't remember seeing so much pollution and signs before (when I was a kid). But maybe that was because it just was ignored. What would be a good solution?

I live near the beach too. It's about 8 miles away. I love swimming too. But I am lucky, our ocean is clean enough to swim now. I don't know how to solute the pollution of ocean exactly. But in our city, the government know the ocean's value, they think much of the pollution problem that going with the development of economic. Although they do much to our ocean, I still find the color of sand in beach is changed from white to grey . What you said is a globe problem , to solve it is very difficult. I live in GuangXi Province ,the south of China,it's nearby Gulf of Tonkin.

You are lucky to live nearby the beach. We don't have a beach here. When we feel like swimming, we can go to the swimming pool only. I like going to the beach and play in the ocean.
