I think I posted about finding this young cat we called Capt. Jack. Well, I got a call today that the lady that looked at him on Sunday is going to take him! He's going to be renamed Clovis and will be the special baby to this lady & her husband. I'm so happy for him, cause he's just one of the nicest cat's I've met in a long time. One of the helpers at adoption would walk around the store carring him & he'd just lay in her arms & look around. I'm so excited! Now, if the last 4 looking for homes could find them I'd be one HAPPY camper!

Oh yes - I remember Capt. Jack! He was the beautiful ginger boy wasn't he? I remember him because I so love ginger boys, and have 3 of my own! They can be feisty, but I think they can be exceptionally loving too. I'm so glad he has found a good and loving home. Not sure about the name Clovis - I think I prefer Capt Jack myself - LOL! But what matters is that he is going to be loved, cared form and well looked after. Thanks for the good news.

Yes, he's the beautiful ginger boy. We kind of named him Capt. Jack because we had a kitten named "Orion" that was renamed "Jack." As I told the lady, that we called him that because we figured that if we gave him a "boring" name like "Jack" then someone would adopt him & give him an interesting name like "Clovis." I'm sure that didn't hurt her opinion of me any either! LOL But it really is the reason we called him Capt Jack - well, that & he'd sleep with ANYBODY!

I opened this discussion initially straight from my friends' email notifications, so have only now come back and seen the photo. Yes - indeed - he is that gorgeous ginger boy!! And strangely - my 3 gingers wll sleep wth anybody too!!! Sometimes all 3 cuddle up together on the spare bed, and they are so closely entwined with each other, all you can see is this heaving, purring, ginger, furry lump!!!Big hugs to Clovis from me and his 3 English ginger cousins!!

Sylvester from the pet shelter - The beautiful Sylvester that we will take from the shelter today
Hi ElicBxn, I am so glad for the kitty that found a new home:) And in fact I'll be off to the shelter here in a few hours to go to take one cat as the newest addition to our cat family. Than we will have 7. My partner isn't really trilled about it because with 6 we already have more than enough. However, this one just broke my heart when I saw it last Saturday. He is a 5 years old male cat called Sylvester. White with orange/red color, and such a pretty cat. We were told that if no one gets him he will be euthanised this week Friday. It was just like he knew it, and when I walked toward him he started to "talk" to me, while looking in my eyes, and kept asking, "take me please, take me with you and don't let them kill me." I started crying and told my partner that I will take him. My partner kept telling me that we cannot have yet another cat as the other cats of our would not accept him. However I am willing to give it a try, and will do my best to have him accepted. We will get 2 weeks the time to see how things are going, and if he can stay with us. And I'll make sure, and whatever I can to have him feel at home, and my other cats to start accept him, even if this might prove really difficult. You see, my cats have already issues with each other, and now that winter is coming and they stay at home more, they do fight and upset one another more than in the summertime. In any case, I have to try to save the dear Sylvester, and hope my partner will see that it is possible. I'll attach a photo of him here for you to see. TheFortunes

He is a sweet faced boy. All right. when you get him home, put him in a room that the others won't be allowed in. Keep the door shut, but go visit him, for several days to a week. Then start having supervised visits - even better if you can put the other cats into his room & let him out into the rest of the house for a little bit, so they can smell his smells in there. When you do start letting him out, give lots of attention to your old cats so they know you are not replacing them. These tips might make his introduction to the other cats easier.

Sylvester finally here with us - Sylvester this afternoon after we came from the shelter
Hi ElicBxn, and thanks lots for the advice. I'll try it the way you are saying. The moment we brought him in the house, my Chicha, who feels like the Queen of the household started scremeing and hissing to no end. He did the same however. All the others were just watching him in horror ( I guess he frightened them with his size, as he is huge, and his voice is too. He is obviously used to be the BOSS in his previous household, and is not willing to be submissive as Pimko is. At the other side is he very loving and is all the time coming on my lap, and kissing me, and purring my ears off. I have never seen such a big male cat that is so loving, and at the same time so bad for my cats. I will not let them fight however and will keep him separated. He starts to scream the moment one of the others cats comes near the room, or he sees them peeking through the open door. I lready love him though and will do my best to keep him here. An other foto of him attached TheFortunes

Oh I'm so happy to hear the Capt. Jack..uh...Clovis is going to have a nice new home...I could never be in the pet rescue business....I'd want to keep them all! While you must be ecstatic when you find home for your kitties that you've taken under your love and care...do you hate giving them up at the same time? Just wondering

I have to say, some more than others. Boris was washing my face RAW so, while I really liked him, I can't say I was too sorry to see him go! Tricksy never cuddled, I barely got to know her, so I really didn't much miss her either. But Clovis is such a little purr box, even tho we've only had him a month, he's going to be hard to let go! Its just that I know he's going to a much better place where they can give him more attention, rather than competing with 20+ other cats for attention.

I'm happy to hear that you found him a good home. He's so cute. I love yellow cats, they are always so friendly. I hope you are able to find good homes for the others, as well. I am always happy to hear about happy animal stories.

What a sweet little kitty!! I love happy endings to stories like this. I got my cat from a lady who could not keep him because he did not get along with her older cat. Since she had the older cat first, she decided that the younger one needed to find a new home.

And he's got the perfect orange tabby personality too. I've seldom seen such a laid back kitten. In fact, the last one I knew who was so laid back, I got at the same complex, only she was coal black!

I am so happy to hear that Captain Jack has a new forever home! I love his new name Clovis. Is he going to be the only kitty in his new hom? You need to let our friends at our othe forum know about Captain Jack's good fortune; if you haven't already done so.

I will be doing that. I've known it was in the works since Sunday, but just got the word it was so before I posted it here. Yes, Clovis will be an only kitty, the name came from a bad movie with a cute kitty named Clovis.
