Uh uh, tut tut! I'm talking about curries! A friend prompted me to ask this question, when mentioning how curry was on the menu each evening, but it was always different.
That set me to thinking about what my favourite curries are, and how many other ways I have curried food, be it meat, fish or vegetables. There are many different curry spices on the market and many types of curries. My favourites are Indonesian and Thai dishes... I don't mind whether it's meat or fish but I do like one or the other in there. I like all types of Indonesian Curries, and mainly Green Chicken and Red Beef Curries in the Thai range. Chicken Satay is good too! Yum!
So, how many different types of curries can you come up with? How many have you tried and how often do you eat them? Surely not EVERY night, like my friend! lol. I would imagine that could cause a few problems in the morning! ha ha ha.
Let's see who can come up with the most then... this should be interesting.;P

Okay well i can't come up with a bunch, because there's only one curry dish i actually enjoy, and over the years i have perfected it to be the best thing i've ever tasted in my life!!!
Curry Chicken, The only way i like my curry, why? because i can make it smooth!!!!!
Just boil the chicken till the water's nearly gone, and the chicken's falling off the bones, make sure there's no skin or bones left in the water, it can make it pretty grose, and make sure the meat is separate from the bones and skin, cause you just need the meat.
Then, make the rice, i prefer the minute rice, faster, easier, and never ever is left with any grit in the kernels.
Then, take Cream of mushroom soup (about 2-3 small cans to it)
One small package of phili cream cheese
2 tablespoons (less if you wish it not to be as spicy) curry (east indian prefered because it's not salty)
the chicken
Onions (sauted - About one large)
and any vegetables you chose if you wish
mix all those together and cook until boiling, mix in the rice so it's all together and smooth, and voila
the best curry dish i've ever tasted.
every other turns my stomach!!!

It is very different, but it's also really really amazing, don't use the lowfat cream cheese cause it gives it a nasty flavor, but otherwise, the more cream cheese the better in this dish, ohh it's truly amazing.
no problem, when i find a good recipe i love to share it, though this time, it's not a recipe i found, i experiment with everything i do in the kitchen, and throughout the last 12-14 years i've rarely if ever made something from a recipe card, everything's all about testing and having fun with it, tasting, trying new things, all that, it's totally fun!!!
i make a killer spaghetti sauce too that makes people come from all over when i make it if they know that's what i'm cooking :)

Best wishes to you, and take care

My favourite has to be chicken in most of the different flavours that are supplied in tins or bottles and even prepared by the local takeaway. Curry is the kind of meal that can be eaten with a great variety of ingredients such as vegetables or chips or rice. There are also many varieties of rice that can go with curry so curry as a meal is definately my favourite meal.
Have some great curries from Deeeky.

Yes, some even contain fruit or nuts, Deeeky. I'm a bit of a fiend for prawns, especially Tiger and King Prawns in curry. The Bali Brasserie (Indonesian Restaurant/Takeaway) does an awwwwwwwwwsome Tiger Prawn Curry. I don't remember the name of it now, but they can't go wrong with any dish, as far as I'm concerned. I'm not so keen on their chick pea dishes, but that's just a matter of taste, I guess. I like the accompanying foods they have too, which is possibly why I prefer that to Indian. It's very like Indian, but with that extra oooomph! :)
I like my Chinese King Prawn Curry too, with a special House Rice, full of peppers and vegetables. Mmmmmmmmmm.
Brightest Blessings, my dearest friend. Have a great day! x

We love curry! We always try to have at least one curry in a restaurant when we are in a foreign country becuase it's interesting to see how different the same dish can be. For example, we were in Estonia a couple of weeks ago and we found that the saag ghosht (lamb with spinach) was made and served in a very different way to the way we would usually have it in England.
We have eaten curry in Poland, Iceland, Slovenia, Finalnd, Norway, Armenia, Romania, Ireland and more!
A few months ago we decided to eat Indian food every evening for a week but we researched our recipes to try lots of new things so that we a had a mixture of light dishes and stodgy traditional curries.
My favourite is a kingfish and fgreen mango curry from the Kerala part of southern India - very refreshing with sharp flavours.
How many curries can i come up with?
Thai red, thai green, rogan josh, dupiaza (with lots of onions), korma (with cream and nuts), kashmiri (with fruit and almonds), Sri Lankan (with coconut and chillies), danask (with lemon and lentils), a dhal (lentils with spices), saag aloo (potato with spinach), channa chat (chickpeas in spicy sauce), bhuna, balti, moshori, vindaloo, phal, jalfrezi (with lots of fresh green chillies),
Want me to go on?

I like the Saag Ghosh one. Somebody invited me to their house one evening, for a neighbour's party dinner he was cooking and he made one... it was awesome! He also made a Chicken Tikka Massala to die for, Naan, two different types of Rice, Pilau and Basmatti, and heaps of Popadoms with Onion Salad and the usual dips. That was better than eating at a restaurant... ha ha ha... and he's English. He did all the cooking and his wife prepared the eating space for the party. I had a great night!
I think you've covered a few... you did miss some, but you have a great list there. Kashmiri is nice too, but I find it a bit mild, normally. Oh boy... your list has left me craving curry! :)
Brightest Blessings.

Hi Darkwing,
I can only think of 2 curry dishes, and I love them yum yum! Curried chicken and curried shrimp. That is all I can come up with though sorry. I'm sure I have probably tried more in my lifetime, but I can't remember the names of the dishes. Have a great day!

I believe what you call shrimp, my friend, we call prawns. Shrimps to us are tiny species and prawns, quite a deal larger. So, in that case, I like both of those. I love Tiger Prawns in curry. In the Indonesian Restaurant, they leave the tails on though, and it can become a bit fiddly. lol. Chicken Satay is a must! It's red chili and peanut based and has a sweet, yet hottish taste. I do that once a week, with stir-fry veg into which I add a few noodles, and then I have a side salad also. Very healthy!!! :)
Brightest Blessings dear friend. x

Ilike curries, but only mild to medium. I cant eat really hot curry. My favourites would be curried sausages ( i usually do a sweet curry for this), curried prawns, and i love curried eggs. I havent had them for a while. I did a curry sausages last week while my eldest daughter was up, cause all the others dont eat it and she does.
best wishes and take care

Curried sausages is a new one on me, Kay. Worth a try... I think if it's sweet and hot, it would be nice.
Korma and Kashmiri are mild curries, if you like almonds, which are in Korma, and I think it's pineapple in the Kashmiri. Worth a try, anyway.
Brightest Blessings, my dear friend. x

I do not know that I have ever had an actual curried dish, but I have had curry powder on my shelf. I think I had a pickle recipe that called for it. As I am typing I am discussing with my husband, and we are adventurous eaters. I remember that I bought red curry paste this summer for something, but I cannot remember what. I am pretty sure it is in the refrigerator. It was for a chicken dish that someone on here was giving the recipe for. As a little side note, people feel that eating curry, or more specifically the tumeric in curry is healthful in many ways, including helping the aches and pains of arthritis. I will watch this discussion.

I think that's quite possible because I've had tumeric capsules for inflammation and swelling caused by water retention, so I would guess it could help arthritis. I'll have to check later.
Red curry paste is normally used in Thai recipes. It's made with red chili peppers, and not as hot as the green one.
Brightest Blessings.

We have Indian influences here in my country, it is already been a part of our culture ever since. One of them is indeed their cuisines, they introduced curry in our meals and filipino food was never that the same again (aside from chinese and spanish dishes!LOL).
Indeed, curry is one of the best spice we got aware of. We mostly eat here, curried chicken, beef and fish. We only put bell pepers on it, tomato sauce, potatoes and carrots, as the main ingredients then the rest is for us to taste!;)

Well my parents are from Jamaica so curry is a regular in our diet. Almost always curry goat. Curry chicken is great too. Curry from the Caribbean smells different than Indian curry and not as strong. I've never tried Indian curry but I know some people on my street that use it and you can smell it all the way accrosssss the street. Doesn't smell too good. My dad bought the wrong curry one time and when I walked in my house I though I walked into the wrong one. My mom lectured him on which curry to purchase. But if I had to choose which meat to have it with I would go with chicken. I'm afraid I don't know much about any other curry.

Sounds good. There's an Indonesian Stir Fry like that, consists of rice, vegetables and fish or meat. They tend to eat it at breakfast time. It's nice, but I don't think I'd go that far. lol. It would be a nice lunchtime snack. Begins with N, I can't quite remember the name.
Brightest Blessings.
