Names a big question?????

One of my Chinese colleagues who married an Indian husband told me the Indians generally like to name their sons with their gods’ names. She is now at 30s and has got a son and a daughter. Her son is named after a god with elephant look and sorry that I have forgotten his name. I suggest a name, Samy Vellu, as it is simple to be memorized (sorry that it is not modern) and it is also the great name of one of the current ministers in my country.
