Do you think sleeping is a waste of time?

Many people like to have a nap in the afternoon - do you think they are wasting time? That maybe they can do something better in that time? What about when we grow old do you think that maybe we look back at our lives and think that we've spent half of it sleeping? Or do you find sleeping as a way of charging your body? Please share your thoughts! I personally love sleeping but sometimes I prefer waking up early and do something useful!

sleeping only becomes a waste of time if it is done too much. like, you sleep but there's so much things to do. you sleep during work hours and your work gets piled up. but if its sleep at night, then its a must since it is how we recharge ourselves like you said. and naps during afternoons are sometimes good and sometimes bad. naps are good for kids though. ^__^

I totally agree with you. years ago I lived with my dad, and I have never done that. I didn't like being so far away from my mom and other family that I have lived with my whole life, so I got really depressed and when I wasn't working and not eating I would go to my room and sleep. I can't believe how much of my life I wasted just sleeping all the time. thankfully I got the money and left and went and lived with my mom and I did much better. I was out and about and only slept at night like normal people.

I dont think sleeping is a waste of time at all. It could be a waste of time before examinations but in general, sleeping can bring a lot of freshness in one's mind at the end of it. I enjoy sleeping so much and i time it. yes, sometimes i do think about this when i get up, that i should have got up early and did something useful but the whole point is, i need some amount of sleeping and if i fail to get that, i cannot do any useful work, how much ever i try to concentrate.

My nights are often disturbed. So, I do take naps. Sometimes I think that it would be good to feel fabulous on just a small amount of sleep at night, then maybe a quick shot of sleep later during the day. I do sometimes wish there was more time in the day. Sleeping and eating take up so much time. That said, sleeping for me is a true pleasure, and I love it dearly. It's just that...I'd love to feel more refreshed of a morning.

Oh I definitely do not think it is a waste of time. Because the more sleep you get, the better of a mood you are in. You are able to do things better...for example: you are better at driving (usually) and you are more motivated to get things done such as chores. I think getting enough sleep is great! It will probably make you a much more positive person!

No, definitely not a waste of time. I regret that i was lacking of sleep during my childhood days the result was that i didn't get taller. I always sleeps late or didn't have power naps before, i guess its too late to know that during our growth years we need to sleep to activate our hormones that helps us grow taller. Sleeping is very important especially to older people.

Oh i see well maybe I got lots of sleep when I was young because I'm quite tall! haha it makes sense, I should ask my mother if I used to sleep a lot because I don't remember though I never had any problems with sleeping. Thanks so much for your time!

i don't think sleeping is a waste of time unless you take the sleeping much more than others.the key about sleeping is a waste of time or not is what about after you wake up,would you have a positive attitude about your life, your job.

Well, all I know is if I don't take a nap I will not function correctly during the day. No strength either. I get a little loopy without a nap.

I love sleeping I just wish I could get more of it. It doesn't matter how early I go to bed at night I always seem to wake up 7 hours later. I hate that. I miss the days when I got 8 or 9 hours of sleep. That was back in high school for me. no one wakes me up but I am so used to getting less sleep now since I had my son 3 yrs. ago that I don't get more than 7 hours of sleep. I love sleeping though. sometimes I do enjoy taking a nap when my son naps, even though I know that I will be up later because of that.

As I grow older I find that taking a short nap during the day means I can feel more energetic later on. I am usually up at 6am so by early afternoon I feel the need to sleep for an hour or so.

Yes my mother says the same thing. However I don't feel the need to nap in the afternoon, because I wake up late whenever I can. However on Saturday I spend the whole morning makind errands or shopping I head straight to bed =)

I think getting a good amount of sleep is very good for us. Over sleeping is different and I think that is a waste of time. I am tired right now and I'm thinking of taking a nap today. If you don't get enough sleep during the night, I think a nap is needed.:)

No, it is not. Our body was created to rest as well. We aren't alive to be active all the time. We also need time to regain our lost energy.
