Too long?

I tend to try and make my discussions I start quality filled. Not too long but with enough information to make it a quality filled discussion for the members here. Most mine are usually a paragraph long and not more. Now I have gotten responses saying that it's too long to read. Seems if it was too long to read they should just click it & go away not bothering with it. But yet they take the same amount of time to type something along the lines they won't read it as it's too long & they are sorry they can't say more. Have you gotten similar types of responses? Does it irritate you? Do you write anything back as a comment to this type of response? I have gotten a tad rude once or twice when I did add a comment. I feel if it's too long to them they should just move on if they are in it for a quick penny is all. What's your feelings along this line? Hope this isn't too long. HAHAHAHAHAHA!! J/K

Don't worry grandpa Bob, it depend on the level or degree of friendship. Penny will be the secondary if friendship is the primary element to take. On here, actually a place for us to have our own expressions. Just do it Grandpa Bob, because there will be, always good reasons for those who like it or otherwise.
Long or short it does not matter to me and never pang my big-bell-stomach, we are on cyber friendship, they can just 'Take It' or 'Leave It'. Keep going with your long narrations, I like it...Grandpa Bob!!!

I agree with you. If its too long to read, then move on to the next one. There is no sense in being rude and nasty in someone elses discussion. My mamma always taught me if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything. I sometimes have the tendency to jabber on. Thats what this forum is supposed to be about. Some of the new people join up for the earnings, then when the find out the earnings are just pennies, they move on. Thats fine with me. I initially joined for the earnings too, back when I joined it was easier to earn the pennies, they had more to go around. Then I got to know people, make friends and care what happens to some of them. The pennies don't matter anymore, no one is going to get rich. BTW have you seen a difference with your earnings since asking people to make comments on your pics. I have noticed that you are getting more comments. I hope you don't mind reading this long response, hehe.

Sometimes I don't want to sit and read and read and read threw a post someone made... I think sometimes people go on and on and don't know when to stop.. I don't know just my oppion though speaking here though.. I know when I make a post I try not to make it as long as I possible can, Just enough information to get it going and if people have questions I answer them as I work my way threw the replies!

Oh me too! Sometimes when you type you almost don't know when to stop so you just keep on a going and going... Not that it's a bad thing as long as you have something to say and not just repeating yourself non stop!

Well, I have gotten replies to my discussions that have absolutely nothing to do with what I posted lol. I guess they didn't take the time to read the post. So, I suppose that I have had the same experience. It is rather stupefying that someone would take the time to complain that your posts are too long with an explanation and think they don't have the time to read it. Very irritating. I find your posts very entertaining and they certainly are not too long. To have a quality discussion, requires wording. At least that is how I feel!

I've been lucky. In my 11 months here I have seen maybe 2 or
3 like that in mine. The ones not pertaining to the topic in
the discussion I mean. Thanks bunches for the compliment also.

As with you, it hasn't happened too frequently, but as I pass through other's it seems to happen more frequently to them. I think we are pretty lucky lol! No problem on the compliments, they were well deserved!

I really couldn't care less if someone thinks my discussion topics are too long, and many of them are...must be the writer in me--I'm not much of a talker but I sure as heck can write..hehe..I agree with you though...If someone complains that the length of the discussion is too long for them to read, then they should just move on, instead of making some insulting comment

I agree- if they think what you are writing is too long then they should just pass on by to the short, boring discussions. Sometimes a discussion warrants being short because there isn't a whole lot to say but if you want to write you keep on writing! And if they don't like it then that is just too bad. I would only comment if I felt the need to and I probably wouldn't be very nice either! So far I haven't gotten any comments about my posts being too long though sometimes even I think they are a little long!! Probably why a lot of my stuff isn't read at all...
Too many people here are just here to make money and nothing more!

Well I've never had that answer to any of my discussions - I don't start that many discussions anyway to be honest, - but I have seen it to others. Sadly too many people here these day seem to be in it only for the "fast buck". They don't want to really learn something or read something - let alone have to think! My answer would be that if they think it looks too long then just skip it - don't bother to type a reply, - but guess they think typing a reply will earn them money - even if it's just a silly reply like "this is too long!". I wouldn't let people like that worry you to be honest - it's not worth it! Cheers!

fast "buck"? Maybe a fast penny unless the response gets deleted. HAHAHAHA! I don't worry I just wonder why the waste their time doing it.

I think I remember way back getting a response like that. I have also gotten comments about my responses being too long. I admit I do tend to write a lot, partly because I like to fill in as much information as I think is needed and partly because you all are the only people over 5 that I get to talk to...(even if some people here seem to act like they are 5 it still makes a difference to my day).
How I have reacted has depended on how the presented this fact to me. I try not to be rude to people who had trouble with it because of language issue. BUT if they were rude I will be rude right back. Others fall somewhere in between and I usually just skip over them rather than waste my time responding.
I also don't understand the point of leaving a response ONLY to complain about the length. It can easily be reported so it hurts them to do that. For the same amount of time they spend they could leave a response about the title only (which, I know is annoying also) of the firs few lines of the disussion...not the kind of responses I care for either BUT better than a one line complaint that won't make me shorten what I say.

-nausated whining- It's toooooooo long to read. Why do you say so much about one thing? Takes me forever and ever to go thru only to find it's not interesting enough to respond. Anywayssssssssssssssssssss.... -giggling- I'm j/k Grandpa Bob. Your right thou, if a person don't like the discussion, they should just move on instead of taking up allllll their time responding to something they didn't like to begin with.

Hello!
So far I haven't received any responses saying or complaining that my discussion is too long considering that almost all my discussions are very long and thank God for that. I like writing and like you I want my discussion to have enough information in it and not just for the sake of having a discussion. Well, if ever I get one i'll just read, smile and ignore it and I don't see any point commenting back.
And I do agree with you grandpa bob that if they find the discussion too long then just better move on into another discussion. I reckon you earn more if you have a quality discussion. *not sure if i'm right* *smile*

Are you seriuos?!I love talking and you can see this in some/most of my topics and discussions.I love reading long ones because it makes it more interesting for me and makes me understand and know the person more:)If someone told me my things were too long, well i would just ingore them and they should go find some "tiny little"one that soooo short its not even really worhth commenting on in the first place, hehe.I totally agree with you. What bugs me is when you have a response thats 2 words or three and i wrote about 3-5 lines of stuff in my topic, duh!See you later:):)

I tend to ignore those comments. But when it's written into a discussion of maybe 25 words or so it's ridiculous to me.

I don't recall anyone telling me my posts are too long. If someone did tell me that then my response to them would be then just don't read it and move along. They don't need to tell me they are too long because I know how long they are since I was the one who wrote it lol. It would irritate me if they said that because it would look like they were just in it to make the money off of posting that it was too long and not trying to tell me what they thought of my post.

i guess those who complained must have concentration problems!lol as i too have noticed, your discussion are usually of one paragraph and there were only few times when it was longer than that so it's really strange that someone would say that. and i agree if they find it too long and therefore annoying than they should just move on nobody is forcing them to reply!:) as for my own experience nobody has yet told me something like that, though sometimes i fear i make my discussions rather too long!hehehe

Well these people must simply be here to try and make a couple of bucks I guess! Each to their own but as you say if I felt a post was too long or not of interest to me then I would just delete it - not waste someone elses time writing a response like that! xxx Oh yeah and i love your posts Grandpa Bob! Hugs

As a matter of fact, most of my discussions are manifold longer than yours, but i paragraph them well. I mean, instead of writing one long paragraph, you can bifurcate it into two or three. That's just a suggestion for you, incase you want to impress those guys who said your discussions are too long.
On the contrary, it is suggested in the guidelines to be more descriptive while starting a discussion and you exactly follow that! Keep it up!
personally, i have never felt your discussions to be long. Most of your discussions are about your own family life and the rest are all about myLot, Right?
HeHeHe...
Whatever, i enjoy your discussions, read many of them and respond to all those where i've something informative to say. I love your slogan too, Grandpa Bob!
concluding in your style, typically,

Sometimes it takes long answers to get the point across. Plus you get paid a bit more as well. I've never had anybody tell me they skipped over my response because it was too long. I don't know how I'd handle that but to say whatever suits you type of thing so no I won't get irritated, I'll just move on.

Yes, the lenght of the posts has nothing to do with it's quality. But the substance or the gist of your topic really makes it qualitative. Some are even avoiding long posts because they don't want their time wasted in reading. but rather they wanted to consume more of their time in replying. Since it is what it is being paid here.
