OK, wonderful people, don't laugh now. Just asking.
You see, when our house helper sleeps, she sleep with
her eyes, half open. And all you can see in her half
open eyes are the white portion of her eyes. Do you
also sleep with your eyes half open, or do you knew of
somebody else who sleeps this way ?

This is called "lagophthalmos" and it can be a symptom of some health condition if the person does it regularly and for prolonged periods of time. Otherwise it can be just temporary fatigue.I am somewhat curious, though, how you happen to be able to see her eyes when she is sleeping. Doesn't she have a room of her own? This isn't the same housekeeper who sleeps with the lights on, is it?

Whew! drannhh, you amaze me with your good memory.
Yeah, you got it. She's the one. But don't get me wrong, drannh my friend. I think I knew were you are leading me to.
Let me explain. After lunch, when everything is already cleaned and in order, this house helper of ours will have her siesta by dozing off on a couch in the living
room. This we tolerate since she has nothing to do, and she is alone inside the house since I will be in my shop next door, and my wife will be in her office.
Sometimes however, when I need to get something in the house then that is were I would usually see her sleeping on the couch, all the while staring at me with those white eyes and snoring with her mouth half open.

I have a funny story regarding your topic. My sister used to sleep with half open eyes. When i wake up one time because we share a room, i asked her something. I just keep on talking to her. And touched her evenly because i received no response, then suddenly she moved and close her eyes whole close. I was curious so i wake her up and then she wakes up and she don't know what i asked. I just laugh silently and answer her softly to forget it. I thought she was awake too, but i was wrong, she is sleeping with half eye open. Sometimes we are not aware that all of us are like that. When we are tired for the day and when we sleep, we sleep deeply, sometimes we are half open eye when sleeping. This is not in general, but people can be like these.

Sleeping with open eyes? Gandalf of the Lord of the Rings. I remember 1 scene in the return of the king that he sleeps with eyes open as if looking to you. Haha..

I use to know this guy, when I was a teenager who slept like that. Man, that is so creepy and gross to a kid. My foster sister and I would peek at him around the corner and then run in our room and laugh. It's like their looking at you, but they don't see you.

LOL. I have seen someone sleeping with eyes half opened too. It's quite a sight. Fish also sleeps with eyes open. =D
I do not think i sleep with open eyes. I slept in the same room with my parents and brother when I was younger. They have never commented about me sleeping with my eyes open. Given their character, if they see me sleeping with my eyes open, they will surely tell me. Since they did not, I believe i sleep with my eyes close. =)

Nope, not that I'm aware of, but I do know what you're talking about, it's just like how people sleep walk and things like that, just they keep their eyes open or partially opened.

LOL i know exactly what you are talking about!!! Growing up i used to dread going to my room at night if my older sister was already asleep... she would sleep facing my bed face hanging as if smooshed into her pillow with her eyes half way open... the white of her eyeballs and the drool from her mouth and just the whole enitre posistion she was in freaked me out!! I was so happy to grow up get my own room etc etc...i thought my days are half open wide eyes at night were over until about 3 years old i noticed my daughter sleeps the same way!! i used to talk to her and tell her no dont fall asleep yet almost there etc etc and then i realized she was already asleep!!
if i walk by her room at night i peek in and sometimes im chilled because i see one eye looking wide open at me and the other half way open with white showeing... at night time in the dark its freaky and the worst part is i cant always tell if shes awake or asleep!!

Yeah, my sister does this to this day. She's 23. When she was younger she had convulsions frequently so when we first saw her sleeping peacefully (thankfully) with her eyes half open we were scared out of our wits! she's outgrown her seizures but still freaks me out when I see her asleep.
