Are Liverpool tottering or is it Rafa's rotation policy again?

Last two weeks the results have gone against Liverpool. Be it the shocking defeat to Marseille in the Champions League or be it the draws against the likes of Tottenham at Anfield. I was just wondering whether Liverpool are beginning to totter or whether it is Rafa's rotation policy that is again beginning to cost us!! What's your say on this? Cheers! Ram

I agree that the rotation costs Liverpool much. This is because, each player have to be kept closed and maintain their relationship. Understand each other also an important key. There are also from comes from different country and to understand each other was a bit hard.

This has been happening too much in the last three seasons and why Rafa is continuing with it is mind boggling!! Cheers! Ram

Definitely, the rotation policy of Rafa is killing the Reds. How are the players to gel if they don't play together often. No understanding, no telepathic link among themselves. I think Rafa don't know how to maximise his players' potential and ability. If he loves to get his players pumping high ball into the penalty box of the opponent, why place players who are always outjumped by the opponents. Get Peter Crouch to do the job of knocking down the ball. THis guy may not have perfected his knocking down skill, but with constant practice he can do it beautifully for other strikers to score. Sometimes it is very frustrating to watch a talent team struggle just because Rafa insists that his rotation policy is still best for the team. Cheers! Rod

Just contrast this with the kids coming out of Arsenal. Wenger's youths are now in a 13 games winning streak gelling as a team. Except for a few players through injury and form, most of them are played on form rather than rotation. The problem with Rafa's policy is when Crouch is in form, but it is his turn to sit out as per rotation, we loose a player in form, then player coming in either Voronin or Kuyt might not be in the best of forms at that moment. So essentially Rafa is not playing the best team available to him at that moment and that is what is killing the reds big time!! Cheers! Ram

I strongly believe one of the reason Liverpool is stuttering after a promising start to the season is partly due to the squad rotation policy. I can understand Rafa Benitez's decision to use squad rotation policy to ensure his players can cope with the demand of playing close to 60 games per season, but there's no way the policy will work when you have lots of new players such as Torres, Babel, Voronin, Benayoun etc coming in. These players need to gel with the system and their team-mates first. Only after they fully adapted to the game style, then use the rotation policy.

Yes, with so many new players and the fact that Torres, Babel and Voronin are in their first season at EPL. They would take at least a year to settle. In fact, both Voronin and Torres seemed to have got settled in quite quickly, but this rotation has now seemed to throw them off their game. Cheers! Ram
