what ever happened to Darrin Stevens in bewithced?

I love watching Bewitched but I noticed that on the later part of the episodes, the original guy Darrin Stevens which is Samantha's husband was replaced. Your replies will be greatly appreciated. thanks

He had an earlier accident and hurt his back so he couldn't continue.

Mr York was cast as the original Darrin in 1964. He began having back troubles in 1968 and often was too sick to act in the episodes. (There are many "Darrin-less" episodes in the 68-69 season). The executives decided that Mr York needed to be replaced, so Mr Sargent took over for the remaining of the series. (1969-1972). Some Bewitched fans may have thought that the original Darrin passed away in 1969 when he was replaced, but Mr York actually passed away in 1992, due to emphysema.
