According to Reader's Digest: When NASA first started sending up astronatus, they quickly discovered that *ballpoint pens* would not work in ZERO gravity. To combat this problem, NASA scientists spend a DECADE and $12 BILLION developing a pen that writes in zero gravity... upside down... under water... on almost any surface including glass and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to over 300 degreee Celsius. . . . . . . The Russians used *pencil*. =) ----------- I've learned that we are like this sometimes. We tend to look beyond. We try to discover and find answers to our current situations - we haven't realized that what we're looking for and the answers that we've been seeking are just right in front of our noses. So near, and not really that far.:) ========================================================= A few weeks ago, the gospel was about Lazarus and the rich king who didn't mind the poor guy - even when it was pretty obvious that the latter needed the king's help. When they died, Lazarus went to heaven, while the king went to hell. The king complained why he was there because according to him, he hadn't done anything bad when he was alive. Exactly the point. He didn't do anything when it was obvious that someone else needs his help. He hadn't done anything bad. Also, he hadn't done any good. Fr. Mario's homily included that the name Lazarus came from a Greek word, and such Greek word came from a Hebrew word "Eliazar". Eliazar in Hebrew means "the one who trust in God." ---- I've learned that it wasn't just about feeling compassion towards another person - the*response* to such compassion is also needed. ======================================== How about you? Any new lessons about life?:) Take care and God bless! \(",)_

Hi sr0415, and wantyed to thank you for bringing up such a great examples :) And even though I agree with you that the Russiand didn't spend $12 Billion onfinding out a pen as hey used a simple pensil instead, the pensil wouldn'thave worked in all the other circumstances that the US pen would :) So it all depends how you look at things, and how far would you go, and would you be one that is happy with simple things, or would you be happy only when going above and beyond...it all depends on teh person. The example of Lazarus sounds more to me, as I try doing good things myself, and am not ahppy with only not doing any wrong to anyone :) TheFortunes
