Is the apperance the most important for a man or a woman?

For instance,If 2 guys applied with similar backgroud applied for the same position,who will stand out finally.of course,the guy with nice looking will get the job.so do you think the appearance is the most important?

Hi simon1980! Welcome to myLot. I am also thinking that one. Most of the companies do prefer to choose people with pleasing personality. Perhaps, that is one of your best shot if you are going to apply in any company. However, there is also some instances wherein even though you're not a good-looking person, but you're quite intelligent and has a nice background and reputation, then you will be hired immediately.
