*laughs* This topic reminds me of the time that I was working in a health/nutrition type store. It was very slow, and I was all alone, and I started trying to sing in Japanese, a song from an anime I liked. I was so caught up in it that I didn't notice when one of my regular customers came in, and she was like "Hey that's the song from Fruits Basket" and starting correcting my pronunciation. It was kind of embarrassing how wrong I had gotten many of the words, but also neat because I learned the right way to say them, and made a new friend! =)

Yup, I've been an anime fan for about nine years now. My husband and his friends got me started on it, but I think I'm a bigger fan than any of them now. There are a lot of anime shows that I really love, but I'd have to say Fruits Basket is probably my favorite. My avatar here is Hanajima Saki from that show. =)
I love listening to Japanese music. It's so funny because a lot of the time they'll throw in random English words that don't always make sense where they are. The lyrics are also often kind of stream-of-consciousness feeling, which is neat.

There is a great singer by name S.K. Balasubramanyam. He is from Andrha Pradesh and his mother tongue is Telugu. He sings melodiously in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi and many other languages. He is acclaimed as the best singer. I think it depends on the basics of the music which is the foundation for all Indian music. If fundamentals are good, one can sing in any language. Music has no language, but it has its universal language.
