I think that my daughter will be on her own fairly soon after she turns 18. However, I think that she is so used to having money all the time that I am sure that she will have to have help with finances for awhile. My husband will help her even if I don't. I think that you should help them unless they are just wasting their money on useless stuff.

My son will turn 16 next month, so I'll be considering this in a few years. He'll still be in high school when he turns 18 so of course I'll continue to support him until he graduates. Since I expect he will go to college, I hope to assist him financially to some degree until he graduates.

oh cool!!it would be very nice for a father to do that to his son!!but after he graduates he should find a job and not always depend on his parents,,at that time i should be independent then coz ill soon hve family and they need help,,

It depends. If one of my children was going to college and needed a little help I'd do it. Otherwise they can work and struggle just like I did. :) I did get loans from my dad but I paid them back as soon as I could. My brother (30 now) still owes my dad $6,000 from money he's borrowed over the years. I don't want to have that happen with my kids.
