Knitting - pick up stiches

I really hate to have to rip out a piece because I drop a stitch or if I make a knit instead of a pearl, so I avoid this whenever I can. I use a crochet hook to reach down and pick up the stitch. You can tell by looking if the stitch should be in front or in back and I rarely have to rip anything out.

I've never quite figured out how to pick up stitches...to be honest i take the project to my grandma to fix the stitch or..my dad and they fix it for me.

I learnt how to knit years ago but I wasn't really very good at it, but I went through that knitting craze as most girls used to but if I dropped a stitch or made any mistake I used to have to take it one of my friends to fix up, I never could pick stitches, I think my friends were all so glad when I moved on to my next little fad...
