Why do people have a hard time accepting Jesus as the Messiah? Alot of religions out there credit him for being a prophet but don't believe what he said about himself. I find this to be very confusing as well as contradictory. I'm interested in hearing what all religions have to say.

Did you know that this is one of the most controversial issues of faith? Many religions nowadays have different beliefs regarding this matter. There are certain groups that believe that Jesus is a mere man, some say He is a prophet, but there are those who believe that He is the son of God, and therefore also a God. I personally believe that He is the son of God, according to 1 John 5:20 there are also a lot of verses that proves that he is the son of God. I hope that we can start a healthy discussion regarding this topic.

Thanks for your input. I don't get how some think that He is just a prophet and not the Son of God. A prophet is a person who receives messages from God and is called by God to speak for Him. If I think someone is a messenger of the Lord then I would believe the things that he tells me. With that being said, how could some say that He was a prophet and still not believe what He says about being the Son of God? So far no one has given me a good enough explanation as to why. It just makes their belief system kinda shaky.

The Lord Jesus is Christ and Christ is the Messiah and that is according to the Holy Bible. There are people who say that they believe in God; but they do not believe in the Holy Bible as the word of God and it is the truth. If you believe in God, it should also follow that you believe the Holy Bible as the word of God and it is the truth because it is in the Holy Bible where we hear about God. There is a freedom of religion and therefore people may choose whatever they want to believe - be it Catholic, Islam, Christian, self-willed, etc. God is not forcing anybody to believe Him.

I don't know all the reasons but some I do know.
People do not want to repent of their sins. They are comfortable living in sin and if they were to give their lives to Christ, then they would have to turn away from their sins.
The Truth is that every single one of us needs Jesus Christ. One day, we will all die and will face the Lord and His Judgement. If you have always rejected Christ, then you will not be saved.
Knowing Jesus Christ is the greatest thing there is! Putting your whole trust and faith in Him...there is nothing that compares to it! He blesses us everyday and His love is immeasurable.
I'm so glad I know Jesus! I would not trade it for anything this world has to offer!
God bless!

I think that you were hoping for posts from your fellow Christians, but you did ask for opinions so I hope you won't mind if I add mine.
I USED to be a devout Christian...for years I had studied the bible, prayed, and tried everything from Pentecostal to Evangelical to Baptist to Jehovah Witness to you name it...and every one of those paths required me to push aside my own intelligence and common sense and to just "accept" some fairytale that never felt quite right. I honestly WANTED to feel or experience whatever it was that everyone else "claimed" they had...but I never "got it". Sooo, I began studying on my own - trying to find learn the origins of religion, etc.
After years of studying fact-based data (not just something somebody TOLD me I SHOULD believe because someone said so or saw it written in a controversial book), my own intelligence evolved along with my spirituality. I learned that the myth of Jesus (as portrayed in the bible which I also learned was a lot of bunk) is simply the rewritten mythology of about 16 other figures in mythology written LONG BEFORE the Jesus tale ever surfaced.
I am not saying he was not a respected man who never walked this earth, but in my educated opinion, he is NOT the Messiah, and was NOT sent from god.
My spiritual journey continues like anyone else's might as I learn more along the way, but the major difference, IMO, between organized religion and spiritual peace is that the first requires a selfish, almost cult-like forced submission to a supposedly omnipotent and almighty god who is portrayed as a demented control freak playing childish games of seeing who can win the most human souls before the roll of the dice - by faith in whatever is prescribed at the time by those who WANT something from you and therefore promises rewards, while the latter is a journey of WISDOM, personal growth and taking responsibility for one's own actions or inactions, and comprehending how everything is forever intertwined with everything else, then living your life in harmony with every other thing.
I have since experienced miracles beyond belief, unattributed to any god...and have felt more at peace than I ever imagined possible, free of the restraints of someone ELSE'S twisted versions of what is the RIGHT way for everyone to believe.
I hope you are experiencing this level of spiritual peace with your own chosen path.

I believe the one that only believe Jesus was a prophet have not study what there prophet has said. Jesus said he was the son of God if they would take a look at there own prophet. And if they choose not to believe one of there own prophets that makes there whole religoin questionble.

Hi flower! I believe Jesus was a strong Medium and a wayshower. He was a very gifted man. However, we are all sons/daughters of Infinite Intelligence (God) as was Jesus. I do not believe in worship. I am a Spiritualist. :-)

Yes you are right. Many believe Jesus only as a prophet and not the Son of God. However, we must continue to pray and preach the good news of the Lord. It's hard to do, but it's the only way if people were to see the truth.

Jesus have a hard time accepting Jesus as a Messiah for the same reason you have difficulty accepting that he isn't. They just don't believe it. There's nothing contradictory about it. One can view Jesus as a prophet and still not see him as the son of God, or whatever other label he's received.

Hi flowergirl and welcome to mylot. As for why some don't believe? I am answering this as if you are a believer and say that the enemy has been deceiving people for years and this is just one of many things he lies about..
