I'm just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on whether or not humans are the only species that engages in homosexuality. I've seen dogs mounting other dogs but this is explained by animal editorialist's as an act that is used to establish dominance over the other dog. So what do you think?

Homosexuality is displayed in MANY animal species! Much more than I ever imagined actually. The only difference between human homsexuality and animal homsexuality is that when homosexuality appears in animal species, it is always accepted by other animals.
Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/homosexuality_in_animals to start your research. I'll bet you will be as surprised as I was!
Good luck!

Great question! HA! I didn't think that humans were the only gay species...I had this dog in highschool, and he hated women, but would hump every guys leg that he saw...Does that count? HA!!

*Raises hand* I have two gay birds. A male lovebird and a male cockatiel which are an adorable gay couple. They do all the things a straight couple would do. They even have a little nest and have tried to adopt babies that belong to my hetero cockatiels. This behavior is quite common in birds, especially lovebirds.
