Would you stay up every night until 2:00 a.m. for $4 an hour?

They call it "scrubbing" - I call it data entry work for a company who sells for sale by owners information to realtors. I basically check for good ads, punch in number of bedrooms, baths, etc. The problem is is that they are in Utah (MST) so their shift starts at 9:45 p.m. (MST) but here in NJ my shift starts at 11:45 p.m. (EST). It usually takes about 45 minutes-2 hours nightly (6 nights a week). I only average about $20-28 per week and I am up everynight except Sunday till at least 2:30 a.m. by the time I unwind and fall asleep and have to get up early every morning to get my son ready for school. Going on like on hardly any sleep makes me very cranky. I'm not so sure if it's worth it. The extra $100 I guess comes in good use each month or does it? Is $100 worth me being miserable. I was going to ask to switch to the day shift but that starts at 6:30 a.m. (EST) - 4:30 where they are in Utah but at least then I have the option of going to sleep early. The way I'm doing it now - I must stay up late every night and get up early every day for school! Blood money!

maybe if it paid more, but for 4 dollars an hour there is no way i would do that. that is insane...you would think that by you doing that they would appreciate you a little more and pay you quite a bit more. good luck wit it though

They said in the beginning in 3 months I'd get a raise - 3 months will be in November. I'm thinking I should stick it out and may be it'll be worth it but I highly doubt it!

could be, you never know...i would however make sure when that three months comes around that you make sure they are aware of what they said they would do. i had a job that told me that and i didn't get a raise until i almost quit 6 months later. never saw that three month raise. hopefully it won't be that way in your case though. good luck and keep us posted

I think $100 a month is not enough if your are to feel cranky and tired everyday...maybe if the pay is higher then it would be worth it... i certainly won't feel cranky if i consciously know that i would be earning more through the sacrifice of sleep that i am doing...
I guess the only and best option for you is to switch to the day shift...

That's what I thought in the beginning - at least I was getting paid and it was worth it and now being exhausted I'm not sure if it's worth it afterall. Thank you,

Are you located in the USA? If so, what State are you in because I will ask them if they need anyone. I actually just switched to the morning shift which starts at 6:00 a.m. (EST). Let me know and I'll see what I can do.

i think its a tough question.Look as you work from home and has got this, i think you should work.
You can take rest at other time.
I know the working hours is not that much suitable. In regular job also there are people who get night shifts and all.
You can also look at different jobs too.

It does not really seem worth it to me really, but I guess the extra money would come in handy. It is a shame about the time zone difference, though. I don't know that I would be willing to keep it up for such little money. Different hours would be different, but those hours are horrible.

Tell me about it! I'm not sure how much extra money there actually is when it's said and done - I'm paying the electric bill for the computer to be on and the lights(not sure how much that averages out to monthly for electric but still). Thanks!!

I would definitly work for $4.00 an hour if it meant I could stay home and not have to go out to work. I live in Canada, or I would ask you for the information of this company. When you think about it, your in mylot making about 50 cents an hour, if your lucky. I have stayed up till after 2am to post in mylot to try to make some extra money. I read emails to make some money, too, but I'm finding out, after one month of reading, most of them are scams. I reach payout and rarely ever get paid. It takes me about one month to reach $2.00 and it probably takes me about 30 hours of reading to reach this. So I'm sure making a lot less than $4.00 an hour.

Yes i wont mind waking up late till night daily if i get an opportunity to earn extra to this tune. This would be good earning if converted in to indian ruppees and worth spending the additional time to earn more. But i dont find any such jobs here in india.

Whew! That sounds like a lot of work for a little bit of money... Does it help your regular job any - by your name it looks like you're in real estate. I know the real estate market is HORRIBLE here and agents are looking for other careers. A friend of mine even said it would be about 2-3 years before it picks up again. But, if you're looking for something that pays a bit better, my husband and I are looking for partners. I'd love to tell you all about what we're doing, so PM me if you're interested.
Best of luck to you!!!

Oh i've been through SEVERAL sleepless nights, and to be blunt, i've been used to them. As a half-insomniac, i've stayed up multiple, multiple times, and i'm used to it. But still...I might give it a try. After all, I can stay up until 2AM for 4 dollars an hour. I can still get some sleep after being finished as a job well done.
Also, it depends on what kind of data entry i'm doing, and if it's free, then i'll accept.

ah i'd try to see where i could cut down $100 somewhere else and quit the job. By that I mean using less electricity, phone, gas etc. Or eating out less. It's a matter of finding a balance so you're happy. www.simplesavings.com.au has some great advice for successfully spending less money.

Hey I just read your post, I hope that you are getting more money now. I don't think I could do that. I work at Wal-Mart, but I am full time, they have a lot of people that work around 20 hours a week. Now they don't pay a lot, but it is not hard work either, I think a door greeter will make around $7 an hour, and you will get out of the house and interact with other people, and make some new friends. Good Luck

I guess it depends on how much you need the extra money. Right now,I would do it as my check from my part time job is already gone and I just got paid. I don't find that I can work outside of the home enough to make the money that I would like to make. I would love to find a job like this and be able to earn money from home.

$4 an hour seems low to me for a data entry job.
i'd be wanting more to be losing sleep/using my electricity like that.

I wouldn't do it for that amount of money. If I were in school right now, that would be my focus. There are plenty of other part time jobs out there that could fit better with your schedule. Have you considered working only during the summer and saving up your money?
