I do not enjoy writing this. Just have to get this off my chest. I lived in Malaysia. It is a beautiful country, no doubt. We have beautiful beaches, cities with tall buildings, a huge state-of-the-art airport, high-tech communication system and resourceful people. Everything a developing country should have. We are a modern country moving forward into the new age. The age of Information Technology. Everyone chases their dream: to be wealthy, to become successful, to live a good life. To enjoy life to the fullest, so they say. In the midst of all this, many people has lost touch of reality. We're living in the 21st century where science and technology has advanced beyond anything imaginable. But has humankind really progress when people (if we could call him that) has no respect for human lives. What crime is more vile than one perpetrated against innocent children? This is the reality of today's world. I have lived in a time where i believed these thing don't happened. And who in their right mind would imagined these things happening. It did not exist then. Times have changed. And it is certainly not for the better. I may convince myself that this will not happen to me or my family. But the reality is, this kind of things can happen to anyone, anywhere. Sometimes, all it takes is a mistake on our part and tragedy could befall us or our loved ones. It's not that we do not want to trust. We do, more so in this chaotic times, but circumstances always forced us to re-think our view that the world is a good place to live in. It may be still but that notion is slowly becoming an uncertainty. In time, all this will be forgotten by the rest of us, while it will become memories for those who lost their children. And that is reality. A senseless tragedy-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLWuofYH48A

The greatest fears we have now is from our own kind. Not from natural disaster for that we cannot control. Or ill-health because we can be in charge of our body to a certain degree by practising a healthy lifestyle. We now live in fear because of things that we know another human being is capable of doing to harm us and our family. And we can only pray and hope nothing bad will befall our family.

Joshua, This comes at a time when most have started to think in terms of mankind in general. Atleast, that's what i would like to beleive. We should come of our self made boundaries and look with bird's eye view and we should do it for our loved ones. As you have rightly said, that anything can beget out close, near and dear ones. I get a shiver on thinking in such perspective. Children of the world are the most vulnerable and this inclues my child, mour children as well! I am appalled to find the fate of the children in the hands of the trafickers and touts and those who know not what they are doing. We are indeed into pandemonium of some bitter, cruel reality from where it would take real effort to come out. But, Joshua, I am hopeful that we would overcome this sooner or later. Cannot say, how much I have appreciated your concren and this gives me an opportunity to air mine as well. Thanks. However, we should not just stop here but move a step ahead and set an example for others to follow. Thank you.

Hi Joshua, I'm from Malaysia too. I'm in the state of Sabah. Believe me, I do follows the sad story of Nurin Jazlin. The police already received the result from FBI in the USA but still cannot solve the case. The video images cannot be made more clear since the CCTV has very low pixel quality. I have received an email from someone about what inside Nurin's body. This email contains photo of a dissection of her body. Do you know what's inside? A big cucumber. bigger that my hand. My God, what kind of evil did that to her....

I'd read about that too. The thing that did that to her is a sadistic beast undeserving of forgiveness from the rest of us. Let's hope the case is solved soon and at least put to rest some of the suffering caused to her parents which they have to lived with the rest of their lives.

Hi joshua_w! I understand what you mean. The world is very progressive but we have lost the true values in humanity. Sometimes I do feel that I am losing faith in humanity especially when so many tragedies happening all around the world. I am a very trusting soul but then I have been cautioned by my husband not to be so trusting anymore because I have been a victim of money-swindling so many times. I really want to trust people and see the goodness in them somehow but then at the back of my mind nowadays, I doubt their sincerity. I have met so many people who are nice to you because they want something from you. However, being victim of financial ruin is far less worse than those people who have been victims of heinous crimes. Sometimes we could only make the best of what we have in this world and try to make it at least beautiful in our own small way. Life is uncertain. What life brings and the fear for uncertainty somehow limits us in making our life more liberating and productive. I guess, everyone of us still hope that there is still hope for humanity. Take care and have a nice day.

Your husband is right in his advice. You should not trust another human being so easily these days, even if you're a trusting person by nature. The state of human nature has change and we could hurt ourself or our loved ones if we trust too easily. As for hope, everyone could do with more hope these days. Just hope the day won't come when we read the news and good deeds done by our fellow human is highlighted on the headline. "Man Save Boy From Being Beaten By Thugs". Good deed and kindness does not make thenews because they're a common occurance still. Let's keep it that way and maybe there's still hope for us yet. You take care too.

Saying and hoping 'this would be the last case in the world' is more than a little optimistic. But still, there's hope in your words.

true sincere observation my friend ! one thing i would like to put up is that the one who does not respect human lives is the one who degrades his own life . if one cannot respect his own self by being just to the society this is always going to prompt him for unfair efforts against fellow human beings . i think in myself , i respect human lives in the sense that i am always concerned about people around me . i feel ashamed of not offering help to a needy person . if i see a person in pain , i start feeling it myself . i cannot say no to anyone who needs any kind of help if it is possible for me . i can say with authority that i have this kind of feeling in me because i have tried to upgrade my life by doing good deeds as frequently as possible . this is what my religion , ISLAM teaches me . it is said by a very prominent scholar , " the world is Almighty's family and the most beloved to the Almighty is the one who is most beneficial and helpful to His family "

You have a good soul. Every religion teaches tolerance and respect for all living beings, i believe. Sometimes i just don't understand how can a human being do those horrible things to another. Not all humans have a conscience, that i know. But killing a child? That's the worse crime in the world. There's no forgiveness for this sin.

I could not even watch the whole video as it made me cry so much! The world is indeed sometimes a very harsh and disgusting place. I can't imagine what mental state people are in to cause hurt to innocent children, in fact, they cannot be same individuals. People who know right from wrong just cannot justify that sort of behaviour - anyone who hurts children really needs to be put away from normal society. They cannot be cured. There have been so many cases of paedophiles who have been released into society only to offend again. Who is to blame? The system! They should not be let out again in the first place! If 1 out of 100 offenders offends again, as far as I'm concerned it is justifiable that all 100 be kept imprisoned or institutionalised. God bless all our children and keep them safe from harm!
