Does anyone out there think the the ratings have lost their significance? I feel like there are some PG13 movies that are so much worse than some Rated R ones. What happened do we have to watch them first before we can let the youth?

I agree with you. I think that PG-13's are way worse than they used to be. 10 years ago most PG-13's would have been rated R. We screen every movie before the kids watch it. It's a pain sometimes but worth it. There are some movies that aren't that bad at all (usually the ones marketed for adults) and then there are terrible ones that are marketed for kids that we would never ever let them watch.

Thanks for your opinion. I heard about a website that tells you why the movie has the rating and it even tells you all the swear words in it. I will try to find it.

Oh if you find it I would love to see it. We spend a lot of time screening movies and then have to watch them again with the kids. I would love to be able to just watch it once all together.

The MPAA is pretty much obsolete nowadays. I'm not one for censorship but some of these R rated movies are just TOO MUCH for these kids that are dragged in to Saw III by their parents because they were too cheap to get a babysitter...
