hello, leziechan. I like both. They each has its own advantage. Movie can show the scene visual for you and book can make you feel from the words written by writers. You can image as much as you like when read a book even you can consider yourself as the role in it, and it is agreeable! For me, watching the movie and reading the book are supplementing each other. Many times, I know a good book from a movie, maybe it is mentioned or it is the favorit of the role in the movie. And, it is possible that in one book there is much description of movie, so I will watch it with a special mood.
Wheter watching movies or reading books, the more the better as long as it is good for ourselves and our life.

More often than not, I prefer to read my favorite books instead of watching movies...of course, there are exceptions to the rule. There are really good movies that are too good to let pass such as "Mummy Returns" episodes, the original Harry Potter movies, and a few others. But generally, I really make it a point to read at least once a day for updating...even the dailies is also a must read especially for my profession....

Reading the books, the movies usually leave stuff out and it sucks.

Both have very different styles. The books can be how much ever long according to the author's wish. But movies generally cannot go longer than 3 hours because the audience wont have the patience for that.
So when books are converted into movies, many parts are cut down and the full 100% is not what we see in the movies.
The books are the best because, there the complete description is retained and movies cannot show things as descriptive as words can.

I would much rather read the book! The problem with that is if I see the movie after I read the book it's always a conflict for me because I see what they changed from the book and it's never as good. I love to read and use my imagination. Down to the voices for the characters. The only book that I read that matched the movie was Rebecca. The movie version was by Hitchcock. It was so awesome because it was like someone videotaped my mind while I was reading the book. Even down to the sound of the characters voices.

I've read books that were turned into movies but not vice versa. But on a more general sense, I prefer movies because I really love looking at the different aspects of films such as cinematography, sound, production design, etc. Some say your imagination is limited when you watch a film but I just like seeing how the combinations of those aspects interplay.
