We know that in olden days we had only few good fielders and many a times Indian team had lost the game due to bad fielding. Now Robin was excellent fielder. He has been in the jobof a field coach for quite a long time now. How do you rate his performance in the role of a fielding coach?

I personally feel coach shouldn't be blamed for bad fielding since it depends om how a player is assertive while fielding you should always expect that the ball is coming your side, that way fielding can be improved by being assertive. So, i personally feel robin is doing his job well but in the end it is up to the players to perform.

We do not intend to blame only Robin for the poor fielding performance by Indian cricket team. You are right that the coach has to train and advise the players. Ultimately the players have to respond to the coach's advise and perform better. Then what do you think, his job is only to advise? In fact the coaches are meant to get the performance from the players. History says that whenever the team has failed, the biggest blame is on coach. Take other games also like football, the coaches are forced to resign because of the poor performance of the team...!

I think the attitude of people towards coach should change.Since Robin has done well with the under nineteen teams, his capability should never be questioned and moreover he can't make Jonty Rodes or yuviraj out of munaf or ganguly.

Now a days i see only very little change in the indian's fielding performance. Well, they have understood that giving the singles away is not something that they can do now and they are working on preventing the singles. Thats a good thing. But as fielding as a whole, i dont any great difference. The level has not gone up to the level of south african's fielding or aussies. There is still some considerable amount of work left for the indians to do to improve themselves.

However we must consider that some senior players like Kumble or Saurav or even Sachin are not as quick as they were few years back. Whenever they are fielding in deep and the ball goes to them, there is a chance for bastman to get an extra run. Here perhaps Robin cannot do anything.

I feel that indian cricket has not improved a single bit in its fielding even after inducting robin singh as the fielding coach. There is no point in having a fielding coach considering the players don't have any commitment while in the field.
