Ok here . . . I'm 23 and was just diagnosed with carpel tunnel . . .which explains why I have the hardest time typing . . .one hand in a brace . . .anywhooo . . .I've had an MRI and a steriod injection and nothing my ortho dr has done helps the pain. I used to go to the gym alot and couldn't do half the exercizes because i seriously cannot use my left handf. I can't even hold the simplest objectds in that hand. I was just wondering if anyone else had experience with CP. WHat treatments have worked for you?? I'll take any advice right now, I can't stand being limited like this. Thanks!

start getting massages or get one and then ask them how you can massage it at home

I had carpel tunnel surgery on my right hand. It worked beautifully and I have never had any problems with my right hand after the surgery. However, I was going to have to go in to have the left hand done because it got worse after the surgery on the right hand. Before I could have the surgery I had some back problems and went to a Chiropractor for them. I mentioned my carpal tunnel and the Chiropractor fixed it! I had been told by a friend that I should see the Chiropractor before I had the surgery on my right hand. I wish I had. It took 2 weeks to recuperate from the surgery and there was no recuperation time for the Chiropractor. I really advise you to see one and see if he can help you.

It worked for me and it worked for my friend. It's sure worth a try. That was a really hard two weeks, getting over the surgery. You can't get your hand wet - which makes bathing or showering hard - you can't drive - you can't do just about anything the 1st week because any activity will make your hand swell. I'm so glad I mentioned it to my Chiropractor.

I have it too, in both wrists, my doc gave me braces and physical therapy, neihter of which has yet to work. When I wake up in the morning I can't squeeze my hand into a fist or hold onto anything for about an hour and a half until my feeling comes back along with half of the strengh. I'd love some adive too. thanks

I don't suffer carpal tunnel, but I read that trackballs are better than mouse for people with this disease. I don't know if it's true, I use a Logitech Marble FX and I feel it more comfortable than mouse. Hope this helps a bit.

Okay, I am going to try and help. First, let me tell you my experience. I had carpal tunnel surgery both hands at age 16. Been having problems on and off ever since! Now, at age 32 doc is talking about surgery again. Not wanting to ever do that again. Now they say it can come back. So....I am taking 100mg of B-6 a day to try and prevent the worsening of my condition. Also, I get deep tissue massages twice a month. They start in my shoulder blade area and work through my hands. Also, heat, those wax machines, they use in manicure places, you can buy one and keep in your home. They are soothing. Good luck with you! Please keep me posted and ask me questions if I can help. BTW - the chiropractor did not help me.

Why don't you want the surgery again? I am curious because I've been told it's the best way to go for me. I'm only 24, I don't want to do it. I'm afraid it will just come back. My insurance won't cover it. My hand gets so swollen I can't feel heat/cold, and I drop things all the time. Yet here I am typing..oops!

I'm 24 with the same issue. But it's my right hand. It's hurting right now. I know i should stop typing, but that's like asking me not to breath yaknow? Anyhow, try getting a Pil-o-splint from ebay or Walgreens. Helps a lot! It keeps your hand/wrist mobile at night..And it's soft too.

I'll maybe have to get one of those. I have a brace my orthopeadists gave me, but it irritates me and gets in the way. I wear it a lot tho . . my wrist KILLS it hurts so bad. It's hurting something fierce right now!!! I have an appt for a nerve conduction study on thursday. . . I'm not really looking foward to that, my dad had one and said it hurt like hell. My Dr told me that after the nerve study, we'll probably end up doing surgery. I don't care what he does, I jsut wanna have the pain GO AWAY!!!

I had good results with B6 in mega doses, and cod liver oil. Somewhere I read that losing a little weight helps, as well as getting enough sleep.Problem is, my carpal tunnel was waking me up at night. There are some stretching exercises for your wrist as well. I ordered some knit cuffs with magnetic thread from a health remedy catalogue, probably could get them at a health food/natural healling store too. Add me as a friend, and I will write directly to you, or see my discussion, same subject. (I did not look before I wrote.) I am being lazy about my supplements right now, and my myLot time is having an effect on my wrists.

I just had surgery on both of my hands. What ever you do do not wait, get the surgery done. I waited too long (should of had it done 5 years ago) and now i have severe nerve damage and in therapy for it. It is a long healing process so far because of my damage.I am having alot of problems with my palms.
