Has Neil ever gone on record about just how ironic this song is meant to be? Sounds like it's pro America but is it really partly an attack disguised as patrotism just like Springsteen's Born In The USA?

I'm sure it is..not even really disguised! I've never known Neil Young to say anything pro-America, and that would be unlikely since he is a Canadian. ;-)

Doesn't everyone know this? The lyrics are quite easy to understand - its obvious this is a negative song. It's about the poor, the vulnerable and the defenceless.
